It looks like a question, according to the English I was taught in the fourth grade. English and grammar do not change, it's like trying to change the laws of physics. I can run it by my sister, who has taught English at the school I graduated from for 24 years, and just got her Masters this year, and I'm pretty sure she'd call it a question also. It's like the question; "Do you really think man walked on the moon?". It's a question designed to elicit a response, but it's a question none the less. In this case, I agree with the response it's designed to elicit.
On the Dock is for boating...the Bar is off-topic...don't be a hater just because you work for the Gov....for some of us venting is a necessary form of therapy. :cheers2:

Craig works for the civil service. I can tell you they don't start at the top. My father worked for the civil service for 24 years, after working for the Navy for 23 years.
You mean this is how 1 socialist thinks.
You started a thread based on 1 persons comments about a local news article?? And then broadstroked it as all socialists thinking.
Puttin a lot of effort into searching for something to argue about dont ya think??
Must have your Christmas shopping done.
No, I was wondering if this is how lefties think. I also mentioned 2 names to look for, but there were others, but not as extreme examples as susan and fishead.
I was not putting effort into a search for something to argue. It is from our local newspaper website and I was reading the news and strolled down to the comments and was taken aback. Not trying to be a dick, but if you read my 1st post, you would have gotten this info.
BTW: I posted some comments on the site, paper wouldn't post em. Of course the media wouldn't want someone to see the opinions of the anyone not a liberal. Fair and balanced reporting - BAH! :cuss: :USA:
Here are 2 of Susan's recent comments: To Fishhead

I find your posts to be the most factual on this site. Kudo's to you. I couldn't agree more about Obama. When I see the courage he shows in getting Health Care through, it reminds me of the brave firefighters running into the Blazing World Trade Center. At first I was against sending more troops to Afganistan but it makes sense to me now. Obama is a genuis because he knows it is not in our National Interest for us to win there and end up staying there. So by sending troops, he can show a good faith effort to win but ultimately all will be lost and he can truthfully point the finger at Bush for dragging his feet when the Generals screamed for help.
and
Of course I believe in what I post

It would be a waste of time if I didnt believe in my Posts. I cant speak for fishhead. It's easy to support Obama because his agenda is right on the mark. He also has been very exceptional in facing down the most serious economic disaster in our History. Oh and if that wasn't enough, Iraq war was lost with no hope, Obama turned things around by developing a surge strategy. This plan was very sucessful and not bad for a guy who has no Military experience. He showed me that he has more Military knowledge than perhaps his Generals. He won that war.
Now Without Obama's stimulus plan, we would have seen nearly every bank fail and unemployment soar in the 20-40% range. It is safe to say that he saved more jobs than the number of unemployed.
Do you guys that lean to the left think this way? While I don't agree, I am curious.
Yeah, I do have my Christmas shopping done. :willy_nilly:
Thats my biggest complaint about what I see on here. The huge generalizations. I could post a couple going the other direction that would start a sh!tstorm on here but why bother.
I'd sooner start a debate based on specific facts or perceptions that could be discussed without bashing or for example having my Canadian citizenship brought up.
The perception on here as me being a socialist is exactly opposite to the truth.
There is a difference between being even handed and fair to those few that need help from those that can afford to give help...and being called a bleading heart leftist.
I agree Alec, but what frustrates some is the difference between wanting a cell phone or needing food. I believe most on this board would be more than willing to help someone that needs food but question wanting a cell phone.

I'll let him comment on that...Craig is a good guy; I think as moderators they get tired of going thru certain topics...and there is certainley no shortage of titties and beer; speaking of which...

As the gap in society gets wider the "socialism" trend may get more popular. After having food stamps, medicaid, welfare, affirmative action and other government help for years and still not catching up socialism is the next step to level the playing field for everyone. It has been printed here before, the industrial revolution is over and America has shipped many jobs out of the country. The car business was a huge employer full of benefits and other union perks and the unions drove the industry into the ground. The Government wants to re-distribute the wealth to help the misfortunate and level out the American dream while crushing the middle class.
