You all HAVE to read this. It is an article from our local paper, talking about the outgoing Governor raising taxes. The parts to read are the comments at the bottom. Look for posts from Susanj52739 and fishhead. I am at a loss for words on what they are thinking. Government should pay for internet and cell service for those that can't afford it. Thinks we should tax military in Va as well as their home state. . . .Obama is doing SO well etc etc.

UNFRIGGEN BELIEVABLE!!!! You will blow your stack reading this chit. Makes Jay and Cat sound like conservatives!

Maybe that Susan lady wants me to pay for everyone to go to Disney World as well so that she can see Fantasy Land!!!

50.1% of the people want the other 49.9% to pay their way. :(

You mean this is how 1 socialist thinks.
You started a thread based on 1 persons comments about a local news article?? And then broadstroked it as all socialists thinking.

Puttin a lot of effort into searching for something to argue about dont ya think??
Must have your Christmas shopping done.

Love ya like a brother Alec, but the thread title was a question.

"This is how socialists think?" and one of the many possible answers is yours..."That's how one thinks, it seems."
My answer would have been... well... that's how a heck of a lot of them probably think.
One has to accept the underlying premise that the benefits of productivity are ok for a third party to redistribute to the non-productive to even be a socialist, after all.

Mornin :)

You are labelling it a question because there were question marks at the end of it.
But you and I know it wasnt.

They just havent invented punctuation that clearly identifies sarcasm.

Mornin back at cha.

Yep. That and the word order. Smells like a question to me, just an emphatic one.

I guess this is a case of "the eye of the beholder."
We don't disagree on Bill's stance. Just on whether this counts as a broad sweeping generalization. :D

I spent the last two evenings attending small fundraisers...donating toys, toiletries, coats, blankets, etc. That is the gift between the wife and I this year. Many who gave generously live very modestly. We don't need socialism, we need the gov't OUT OF OUR LIVES.

Thats my biggest complaint about what I see on here. The huge generalizations. I could post a couple going the other direction that would start a sh!tstorm on here but why bother.
I'd sooner start a debate based on specific facts or perceptions that could be discussed without bashing or for example having my Canadian citizenship brought up.
The perception on here as me being a socialist is exactly opposite to the truth.
There is a difference between being even handed and fair to those few that need help from those that can afford to give help...and being called a bleading heart leftist.

I my opinion, that difference lies in free will. Allow me to be generous. Do not mandate it or it will (and has) drive wealth away, create a dependent class, and become a dis-incentive to work.

Most folks from other countries have little business dabbling in our US affairs. You on the other hand, are essentially a dual citizen in my mind. You spend a great deal of time, money and effort in this country. We would be fortunate to have you as a citizen.

I don't think anyone here would argue that...the problem is that the "few who need help" has grown into a culture of goverment entitlement.

I thank you for that, and those that know me understand how much I care about the USA.
I've got a couple of topics that I'll bring up one day in the spirit of how things are perceived by those that live outside your borders.
One day.

But for now I wish those that are procrastinators..Happy Shopping:)

I just wish that we could leave politics off the site and talk about something that all (well most of us:rolleyes:) believe in...
