Gino ,
are u coming to kw to play with the other P5 guys ??

Nope....boats getting ready for the Miami to Tampa run...
We still could not get her slowed down enough to run consistant under 75..she would run 72 and then jump to 75.3 to 75.5 in a second., ....plus to many rumors on 525hp boats and bigger that have been moved to class 4...and being we are running 625 HP..the boat is not set up for class 4....

IMO ,

The LLC had the P class right back in 03.

I hope John is moving in that direction.

Wil

Since being in F1 then...
I don't even know what the P class rules were..
I think back then Warren ran P-5 I think a 27 - 28' Baja with over 600hp..
I think even some P5 boats ran ballast tanks..

But would be interesting to see what power since the size has remained pretty much the same..

This year in one OPA race all class 5 boats broke out but 1 in some choppy 2 footers...
So we know every boat in class 5 is faster then the 75 mph mark..and problably capible of 80+...
Outside of the 3 twin boats I think the smallest engine in the class is with a 525...

Steve can expand on this.
The boats were placed based on their potential top speed. Not what the crew could race at but what the boat would do in absolute perfect conditions. For example,
Ryan B had to run his 24 skater in P2 against a 42 outerlimits with god knows how much power.
We ran our 26 Corsa with 600 in P4 against 38 cigs with 650.
If the LLC was still around today most of the boats running P-class would be moved up a class in most cases and two or three classes in some.

They had it right and would not put up with ****!
If you ran away and did not break out, they would move u up.

Wil

Gino,We never broke out the entire year.not even a blip.thats cause with our stock 525 we are unable to hit the 75mph mark.We really have to run the boat on the edge to keep up (im sure you have seen it on the edge a few times) lol. But, we did come home this year with a world championship, with the least amount of power in the class.Maybe we will take out the toilet, sink, bench seats and bed to pick up a little acceleration for next year.haha!! But,we can save this stuff for a different thread.

I dont think you were at the Harrison race when that happend...
and yes you are proped right for the 75 mph mark...
You have a 28' boat with a 525 and a ITS....
We are all propped to keep us as close to 75 as we can..

and its sounds like you have a mini condo there with the sink, tolet, ect..

But now that Wil mention it...I do remember Ryan running his little 24' cat in Class 2 against some big boats..so there were no size range...

yep

the rule was pretty clear. doesn't matter what kind of boat or what size.

What ever your boat could theoretically run, in optimum conditions, all out no holding back. Thats where you were placed. Beckley is the perfect example.

24 skater in P-2 or was it P-3? either way, how can he compete with 40 foot vees?

I ran P-5 all season, in 2003. Then suddenly, got bumped up to P-4 at the nationals in St Pete. We couldnt hit 80 with no fuel and the wind at our back. We battled it out for 3rd with Doc Santiago in a batboat, only to end up in 4th because of engine trouble in the last lap. I think Wil won that race in his 26 Corsa with a 1000 hp Musi special:eek:

crying did you no good. accept it or dont race ...PERIOD

All of the Class 6 boats are faster than the Class 5's??????:biggrinjester:

Naaaaa...Me and Tyler should be faster then them..but I'm sure PFE and the Tadpole would put up a good fight..maybe even the Sutphen..not sur of his power..

Sorry for getting off typic...just a 7th inning stretch...

Straight speed run, like LOTO, I would probably put money on both of them.....:sifone:

Maybe...I heard what PFE has and his speed in OB...but I don't know what the hp is on the Tadpole or its fastest speed it has ever seen..

Loto set up...we would be closer to 98...and with Ilmor there and a little change here and there we might be able to see 100....

We will be making some changes here in the next 2 weeks...and while testing for the distance set up...I might just take a day to see what she has on lake Tarpon...we already are running a couple hundred Rpm's light to slow her down...so we will see...

If you run that close to 100, you'd beat them both. (I think:rolleyes:)

Guys
This is a little bit of a late notice. I will call Ernie and Gary etc and see what can be done. I told you last week we needed an answer soon to make arrangements. Currently we have no rooms etc. not sure what Gary has planned. The boat is ready just not sure on logistics.
Steve

Steve call me I might be able to help out on rooms bro!!!!

We will be videoing some of the testing we will be doing..so we will make sure that we have one of our camera's on the GPS to post...
Plus this boat is around 2 mph faster in some small chop then flat water

Back to your regular scheduled program..

Here is another idea if Steve cannot make it to KW - Randy and Colby can come here and we can set up the long distance rough water race. No money, no boat titles. Just a good old fashioned scrap, then a great lunch at Gators, some laughs, some hatchet burying, and some planning for the future of the class and racing in general. I'll buy lunch.

I would be willing to get in on this part of it if it doesn't happen in Key West!!!!!
