Englewood Beach Waterfest APBA Championship Weekend October 11-12

Englewood, FL | October 3, 2025

APBA’s Englewood Beach Waterfest may possibly be one of the most consequential offshore boat races of our generation. Not only are the Englewood Waterfest Championship podium positions on the line, but the additional Championships to be decided are likely the largest group ever to be determined at a single event.

The importance of this is reflected in the purse on the line of over $50,000, and every class with 4 or more boats will be receiving purse money; for their first through fourth final finish positions. In addition, even if only one participant appears in a class, that participant will receive third place purse money and points. If only two participants appear in a class, the team finishing first will receive second place prize money and points. And the team finishing second will receive third place prize money and points. Englewood is the final of the three APBA World Championship events, the first two events being Cocoa Beach and New Orleans. This is the only Offshore Powerboating World Championship recognized in the United States by the world governing body, the UIM (Union Internationale Motonautique. Thirteen distinct classes of Offshore Powerboats could possibly have their World Championship decided, with the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals being awarded in Englewood.

Englewood Beach Waterfest is also the final of the five-event APBA National Championship. With the APBA being the only National Authority authorized to produce National Championship Powerboating events in the United States by the world governing body. This National Championship has real importance, it’s not just a name used for marketing purposes. Trophies for the APBA National Championships, for every class which has qualifying entries, will be awarded in Englewood.

Waterfest is also the final of the APBA National High Points Championship. Every APBA event participated in during 2025 generates points for the High Points Championship. It makes no difference if it is a regional event or a national event. All points earned add up to determine the High Points Champion in every class. US1 Certificates, patches, and stickers are awarded at the APBA National meeting, or mailed out if the recipient is not in attendance.

Finally, the event in Englewood is the final for the Star Island Championship. This is the award that honors the best performing outboard team in the APBA Florida race events; Cocoa Beach, St Petersburg, and Englewood. The winning team will get their name etched on the giant silver perpetual trophy, and will also receive a crystal facsimile to keep in their trophy case.

One event, five championships being decided, and a purse of over $50,000 in the mix. Can anyone think of any race event that has had more significance?
