The Day SVL Died

yea Willie ,,I remember racing that Corsa in key west with the Magnum ( DERANGED ) YOU WERE REAL FAST ,,THOSE WERE THE DAYS ,,( OF FUN )

WELL I just talked to Steve , and it looks like Gary might be able to go ,,,but word has come that ,,THE TROUNCER OF THE SEAS ,,has already went to Mr. John ,,crying that Steve has been working on his boat,,and I don,t,,, would you please make him take off his bussel,,, Randy also told everybody not to go out and buy ecm,s ,,as well as Colby assured Steve they were running the stock ecm..will they be willing to prove it !!

I know you put hot sauce on chicken ,,do you also put hot sauce on crow. ( post 580 )

while Randy was in the Bahamas on vacation ,Colby managed to gather up donations so they could afford to race !! so who now is taking odds ??

George.... what is your problem? please write in complete sentences, so we can understand exactly what it is your trying to say. You cant seem to stay off the internet without inserting your foot into your mouth.

Who is the trouncer of the seas anyway? Randy? He never claimed that. Your just mad because you were sent home and coudln't be the "Trouncer" yourself. Why is it, that you didnt go to OB in the first place? Was it because you didnt want to run against the Fountain? Then, all of the sudden, you hear the Fountain wasnt there, and you figured ooooh, now I have a shot. Thats like picking the winning lottery numbers after the drawing was over and still expect the winnings.

If you think Randy went to John C. complaining, or is running anything but a stock ECM, you are sorely mistaken. To make allegations without facts to back them up, is exactly what put you in the position you are in now. I can assure you, Randy would have no problem taking any ECM you give him. where did the "WORD" come from anyway? Care to share your source? I know JC is not comfortable with the bussells anyway, and would rather no one had them.

And for the record, George....now that you got me all steamed up. It was you ...no one else, that put this class in the turmoil its in now. Your clear display of sportsmanship (or lack thereof) win or lose, has really shown your true colors.

You were our class rep.... we trusted you and what you were doing for our class. Meanwhile, non of the good things came to fruition. you wanted to vote out the fountain before biloxi...You secretly added a bussell to your boat....You secretly added sharks teeth to the bottom of your boat. Who knows what else your doin George. But this surely looks like a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black. Your not makin any friends here and your only making yourself look worse than you already do. Your not part of the solution, your part of the problem. So lets end it here and move forward.

Bruce I was in bed when i got a call to come , help with boat count,,
quote,,It was I who called George and Mike A. I informed them that the class would only score on sunday. Why not have more boats ,,Smitty
also your right ,, I DID NOT WANT TO RUN WITH THE DRIVER OF THE FOUNTAIN,,,SOOO
If I wanted to ruin their show ,,I WOULD HAVE STAYED,,
AS FOR the Trounce ,comment ,, it came from a WILLIE post ,,,i,m sorry you have convenient recall,,
look you got your " jersy click " and NEVER liked anybody from Fla,,, not the EAGLE ,,MIKLOS,,,NOR ME ,, news flash ,,we don,t care,,

AND YOUR UPSET because i work on my RACE BOAT,,, it,s what you do when you RACE,, YOU GUYS don,t work on your stuff ,,and get mad when others do,?? you didn,t notify anybody when you put a 1/4 rocker in the bottom of your boat,, it,s called RACING !!
Does Rick Hendricks ,,call Jack Roush ,,and say ,,hey guess what we did ,,and went faster,,daaa,,,
the Fountain made all of us RACERS step up our game,,the lazy got left behind,,

i,m done ,,have a good night

First off ..Smitty was wrong to call you without checking with the class. Just as he was wrong for giving out the award in St Clair 5 minutes after he said he wouldn't.

If Willie made that comment, he's entitled. He thinks Randy will win. Thats his opinion, not Randy's. You have your fans, Steve has Klaatu, and Randy has Willie.

"Jersey click" ? Dude.... what are you smoking? I have no problem with anyone one just because they are from Florida. Especially Allen Campbell. My opinon of Steve is not relevant here. You are the problem right now. You just cant let things be. Throwing mud every chance you get, is not helping anyone. If you want to help to save this class, keep the negativity off the internet. Ive asked you so many times, privately. You just dont get it.

I think if we all take a step back things will get better. Guys its only boat racing dont take it so Serious, you need to get back to basic's and have fun doing what u enjoy. We have all chased the pie in the sky, and here we are same place doing the same thing. You would think by now we would figure it out, it is nothing more then what it is, so if you enjoy doing it then have fun. If you think its going to me more then that now is the time to exit, because the bottom line is it not just about winning. I have made some great friends over the year and had to awesome times, but i couldnt tell you what race these guys have own or lost does it even really matter, its about us all being a family and be there for each other. Some place along the line we lost that, yrs ago we worked and help each other and left no man behind. I'm not really sure what we have turned into and what we r really r trying to do. We want to blame the different Org's, the rules books and the manufactures but guys it us just look in the mirror u dont have to go looking anywhere esle. Until we decide to make it better it wont get better, until we decide to be a unit it wont get any better until we decide to be there for each other it wont get any better. The more we divide and the more org's there are the weaker we get,and the worst things will get because we allow that to happen no one else. Because we are chasing the pie in the sky and getting smoke blown up out A$$ and there we go again down a path of hell. By the time we figure it out we wasted another 2 yrs and still right where we are now. Waiting for someone to come along to save us. When they do come along we saddle right up and off we go chaseing the rainbow. We are self serving and dont seem to think about the sport as a whole. Really sit and think about all these Knights in Shining Armor and where they are (not go to mention names) gone and here we are still doing the same thing but just beat up a little more. But stupid us we will do it again, and again .

Agreed Frank

I too, have made many friends (some very good) and aquaintances all over the country. I've made some enemies too. But very few. (usually non racers) The experience over the last 10 years racing, has been great. And even though I kick myself in the azz everytime I think about how much money I have pissed away over that time, It was a great experience. We (the SVLs) were a tight knit group. We were like brothers (and sisters) who always helped one another out, when in need. We dont want to beat another team because they couldnt get off the trailer. For the most part, we are still that brotherhood and would continue to help out one another.

When winning at any cost becomes more important than comraderie and friendship, everything we've done to this point was a waste. At the end of the day, It doesn't really matter who wins. What matters is, did we have fun?, did the fans enjoy the show?

It would be a whole lot better if there were 10, 12, even 15 boats at a race with good battles throughout the fleet. No one will remember who won, they will remember the great battles.

This is not a professional sport. We're not makin a living doing this. So, until we quit our jobs, and theres a huge purse and sponsorship, we should just focus on havin a good time with our friends. Afterall, thats what its all about.

Moderators,

Why are non racers able to disrespect racers again and again?

Wil

Really good question Wil. I'll do my best to answer it, probably won't please anyone.....

Ex racers and current racers, along with those who have never raced but have put their time in with race promotion and organization, pretty much police themselves very well. When someone says something completely out of line, it is extremely rare that the item is not edited by the person who typed it, after they get some less than positive feedback.

All of you have more freedom than anyone else on the site. What you say to each other we try to take the approach you'd say the same thing in a bar over a drink face to face, or in my living room face to face if you were all over to discuss the past, present, and future of Offshore Racing.

Sometimes I cringe with what I read, and I know from my PM's others do too. But, it is tough for some moderators to distance themselves from direct involvement. And the couple of us who send out the PM's to request personal editing of someone's posts, also have a tough time stepping in to make direct changes.

We've only ever banned one racer. And that was after we had numerous requests from other racers, I had a couple of hour long, face to face discussions about the difference between what is put on the internet for all to see, and what you may say to someone's face when you see them. Unfortunately, they didn't get it.

I get just as much flak for over-editing as I get for under-editing. When it comes to racers and ex-racers, I try to not edit at all. If that's not good enough, you guys pick some racers or ex-racers who you would like to be a moderator/policeman, start a thread with a vote that only those who fit the category can vote in, (we can make sure of that in the vote count), and we'll start a discussion about an addition to the moderation group.

As for the offshore non-racers, all of you seem to police that well. If they want to participate in a discussion with you, tell them they need to be respectful or they will be un-welcome.

If you also wish, we can look into modifying our categories to add something for a past competitor or similar along with the competitior membership. Email me if you wish, or I can move this post into a new thread for discussion if you wish.

Direct comment to the non-racer members; Police yourselves, as I do myself, if you wish to discuss racing events and categories with racers.

ie; Edit your own comments if they meet Wil's criteria above.
