Did they just rename the Turbine class or actully combine the extreme and turbines together?

Awesome!!!

no flame show

Could someone make sure they send Cash Bar pics of the races since he will have put on his show else where?

Did they just rename the Turbine class or actually combine the extreme and turbines together?

The Turbine class is no longer. The new class name is Unlimited Offshore. The turbines would have NO PROBLEM combining the classes with Extreme ...That is up to the piston guys. We have opened our class to the pistons (gas or diesel) in an effort to unite the fastest boats. Half of racing offshore in the big classes is reliability. Thus we lengthend our races from 60 to a MIN of 80 miles.

Pick your poison.

A really nice way to underline this fact would be to make them all 100 milers.

I think this is fantastic news...once again, there will be a TOP CLASS that is open to the imagination and innovation of boat builders and engine builders of whatever they have......well done Ron P and crew and everyone involved from the owners side also.

trimable and liftable rudders. have fun with them. Is a 3rd crew member allowed to control all the accessory systems, or is computer control allowed (gyros). or even remote control from shore or helo?

Should have used them a long time ago!

How will this change anything?? the piston boats run on the edge as it is, will they be limiting the fuel control on the turbines. Calling it a different name doesnt change the outcome, the turbines are far more reliable, than their piston equivalant whether it be 60 miles or 100.

Charlie, Our goal is to make them 100 mile + Races. We declared a MINIMUM of 80 so this is not shortened. Rough or storm courses will be voted by the class on a case by case basis.

Speed, If you would like or need a third crew member on board your boat this is your decision ...it is allowed.

Pete, We will not be limiting fuel flow at this point. Races are not won on HP alone. besides Bob morgan has a 5000 hp piston boat that run's damn strong.

So, this would allow new race and established race boats/teams to run some of the more progressive systems. What comes to mind of course is Team Victory. It is no secret that their telemetry system, amongst many other technologically advanced systems, including rudders, have caused EXTREME dissention in Class One. Leading to the regulations or rules in place today along with leaving some teams with a bitter taste.

Think running more advanced equipment can only push the sport up. I was running cockpit adjustable canards on my race boats a LONG time ago and fighting with the UIM scrutinizers got to be a major hassle, I could never finish the rest of the steering controlled airfoil kit for the boat like arguing with a dam cave man.

Christ they changed the rules and knocked one of my boats out for being too long!

Some rules are for people who like to win from the office not on the race Course. Example: unlimited class with limits??

This I like and applaud it will improve the sport if anything!

Just curious of how technologically advanced does a sport that gets little to no media attention need to be?? when safety is concerned one cannot spend enough! But with today's economy, sponsorship=how deep are your pockets! One has to ask is this advancement or just another repeat of the past??
