I've worked outdoors quite a bit for almost 30 years and have NO interest in skin cancer. I like a moderate tan, but we spend a lot of 3-day weekends on the water, and I just flat get TOO hot, plus even 50 or 70 SPF doesn't always cut it.
This is the factory top (Taylor Made), but with new canvas to match the new paint. Stainless frame, it sits on top of the headrests when it's down. We had an all-white, tight-fiitting boot made for it, so it blends with the upholstery. It uses four straps to the windshield frame, and solid struts to the rear when up. We've run as fast as 50 with it, with no signs of impending doom. Others have modified theirs by adding solid struts in the front as well.
Besides protection from the sun, don't forget that it will make you the Most Popular Boat In The Marina on rainy days, especially if you carry the isenglass and Captain Morgan as well....
