Artie I am OK so far It was in the 70's this morning then a cold front started coming through upper 60's now I believe. Take Care.

I will generalize here.
My first Cat I did some basic calculations on like a thin sheet of air being pulled down the bottom (I had to start somewhere) as the speed increased likewise the Air velocity and airflow cfm (I used this number I thought was close)until you have a Cat 3 or better Hurricane blowing under there .
now once you have a Number it is easy to find our needed vent size so to say, I made a 6" deep foreword vent on this boat if I saw a problem would have been a simple operation to open them up a even more. I spent so much time working on the Cat tunnel trying to get it balanced on paper I was talking to myself. Here you can see how close this thing is The steps on that were @3" high by what the numbers said I was very close.

Steve, a few years back when i worked at Skater we pulled in a bran new 36 Apache at Skater with big power and the current owner was tired of getting is butt kicked by cats on Lake Mich and wanted to know if we could do anything for him , steps , ext ,ext and i was going to do the work by adding steps to the bottom of the hull untill ................... Pete , called Apache and was told there was not a thing that could be done to the bottom of the boat that would increase its performance , which in turn put a stop to that project and with that in mind ..............opinion ....... ole friend please

There were a couple of issues on those they were a cigarette basically and the strakes did not run parallel with the keel and water flow they kinda toed in at the transom. Maybe the method of its construction did not allow for much surgery.

Steve i can not tell you how many times i watch that vid on your post 228 and the reason being isssssssssss , im a cat man and that boat with twin x200 HP running like that is awsome .

Just curious but on the stringer, although the bagging has done its job, isnt a bit risky laminating 90 degree corners and you dont end up with the stongest stucture?

no that would be maybe an inside corner which is why we use fillets there. the corners would need rounded to a minimum of a 1/4" Radius for hand contact lamination, This was infused and the Glass was quite happy, 4 layers of 1808 would have been enough but there were 8 in here.
Now where the stringer to hull junction (inside corner) there was 45 Degree Fillets placed on each side of the stringer and the lamination was extended out onto the hull 12 inches the longest one being the top layer they were feathered back the shortest which extended out 4 inches the three stringers including the high density 2 inch wide engine bearers were done one shot.

Alex our target was 90s with the 200 Mariners and that race was the testing LOL !! there was not an opportunity to dial the thing in as we were out of time,We had throttle left on those guys.
I will do a thread on that project in a couple weeks if it is alright with you at SOS.
