Why are Apache's so great?

Lots of well known players involved, it was a great team. Some lit the torch and others carried it but when all said and done the legend lives on.

Don't forget John Pompei for rigging them as well...talked with him for a few hours at loto, he has forgotten more than most of us will ever know about Apaches.

Pompei worked on my 302. JC Perf's brother, Timmy, worked for him.

Word to the wise: Don't try to match JP drink for drink. Word of experience here. :)

He rigged Allez Vite
He was also rigging the ill fated Cheif boat, When I was in his shop, he was showing me how he rigged the fuel storage system. He loves to fabricate things.'

Gatorone's 36, and Fatboy were in his shop at the same time he was rigging the Cheif boat.

Star Chaser

The engines are injected 598 they make 890HP at 6300 rpm on 93 octane fuel. The out drive is 1.5 props are 17-3/4x29 boat has run 104.6 with these props. The engines are getting freshind up over the winter may be a little left in them.

Sounds good frank doing a little work over the winter on mine. Engines are apart making a list for parts now. How did you do with your out drive.

I have a new upper half on the way and it should be here by next week. Its costing a pretty penny but after 150 hours of ocean running I guess it just decided to take a vacation! Dean at the Bravoshop was very kind and has been working with me every step of the way. :)

Thank goodness no engine work for me this winter! :)

Off the top of your head, name the two astronauts from Apollo 12 that walked on the moon.

But you remember Armstrong...

Bobby built some incredible race boats. But there was only one game-changer. Warpath made the rest of the deep vee's obsolete right out of the gate. All the one's after were "really great boats too".

Born and bred in the boat building business, taught by Don Aronow for six to seven years, and then worked for Ben Kramer to build the 41, 45 and 47 Apache Powerboats. Now he owns Apache Powerboats and builds the finest custom order offshore powerboats in the world.

Your history has a minor hole in it. Apache existed long before Ben was anywhere near the boat business. Bob Saccenti built the boats you reference. Later, McManus worked there- in the shop. McManus was a Kramer employee when Bobby left to do his own thing. He managed the business after it was seized by the government, then assumed control upon liquidation.

With all due respect to Mark McManus' accomplishments, Bob Saccenti created the boats and the brand.

Too many posts to read on this thread, but if money were no object, I'd have an Apache '41 - 47' and Lubejobs MTI before the Benz. Can't believe no one has bought his last boat yet. I saw it at the Ft. Myers poker run last year - it was flawless!
