The Great Unification

You guys need to call Tony George and ask him how the great IRL/CART split worked out for Indy Car racing. 15 years later, that sport has been set back to 1980's levels.

First and foremost, there have to be enough racers who WANT the sport to be professional in order for it to support a professional foremat. Otherwise, it's destined to be a sportsman activity forever.

Holy *&%( Crap.......

I can't leave you guys alone for a weekend can I????? All of you need to calm down and take a deep breath......There are things that are in the works that I believe will make this sport of ours a better product...

Chuck makes a good point....So learn from it this time!!!!!

I have talked to everybody as of late and there are good things coming and thats all I will say!!!!! So start dusting off your raceboats and start running them!!!!

,i think OPA does a great job ,,but how long will that system work with no money ????

DD,

Why do you think OPA has no money? Unlike any other Org, OPA does not put on their own races. The cities put on the race and the OPA sancations the event. OPA does not put up the $$, so as long as the cities get thier moneys worth they invite us back. THAT IS WHY THE OPA WILL LAST MUCH LONGER THAN ANYOTHER ORG and that is why the OPA has 2 - 3x the racers.

Regarding SBI, it is my understanding that the TV is an expense to SBI and or its sponsors. My guess is when Miccossuki or Panosonic figure out that they could own there own national series for less money that is where they will go. If they see any return on their TV investment.

Lets say I was a major corporation that was investing 2-3 Million on offshore. Personally I would build 20 class 5 type boats for say $1,000,000 and hire 20 teams to run them for free. I would let them keep pruse and secondary sponsor $. Spend the other $2 mill on TV and build a series amoung 8 cities in my primary demographic. Then I would wrap the races in a reality show on the teams. I own the boats, teams, markieting, the whole show! Much better return on $ than spending 2.5mm on just a few boats that may or may not show up.

That is great way to get offshore back on the map .
Gino marrone had a plan similar to youres ,he almost got it on plane .With a few more dollars he probably would have .

A smaller boat with larger numbers of racers is the best revival tool you have right now.Vs the one boat team costing two million plus .

Get a foundation up and running ,then add a second and third story

Just to add more fuel to the wish fire ,..........I always thought 8 to 10 bat boats in a well run series would have caught on . They have ( canopies of sort ) .They look cool , even with a small block they sound good . The speed per size is there .
They actually got as much attn from fans as did the superboats .

I agree

I may be a little biased, but Vee lite would be a better platform. If not for anything but the safety factor.

Its one thing to spinout a vee lite and possibly get T boned. Its worse to spinout, get ejected and run over by other boat.

The class 5 start in Ocean City had 14 boats and it was rough as hell. They were awesome. Imagine 20 side by side all equally matched. If I owned the series, I would put huge fuel tanks in em and run them for two hrs. That would be the whole show.

Not with my money. They would run 75mph and you could see the faces of the drivers. Remember this would be about the series and promotion of it not the racers. I would be in it for the money and would market the boats, RC boats, swim wear, reality show, every thing and it would still be cheaper than owning Turbine team.

This thread should have been closed about 4 pages ago......I was praying that a few people would never find this site unfortunatly they have....we are forever damned!

I agree,,,but that would be the easy way !!!LOL:sifone:

I would also add RIBs to the boat sides to encourage a little friendly interaction.

Dean,

I want to make sure I have your business plan straight. You want 20 open boats to run 75 mph in varible seas, while rubbing and banging? When you hire each team, what are the benefits? I mean are life and med insurance involved? I see you have thought this thru quite extensively, good luck to you with this endeavor!

Single out those of us who don't agree with you ,and lobby to have us removed .:seeya: :sifone:( its been done before )

It's not about agreeing with you, me, or them. More so about having some insight on much of the info brought out here. Not just one side of half of what somebody might call the truth.

The only thing I would like to see is OFFSHORE RACING move forward. We've seen flashes of brillance.....I've been going to races since 1982 and to ALL of the big ones. In actuality there has been MAYBE only FIVE races EVER with more than 100 boats at them in the last 20 years.

Each group is moving forward doing there thing , LET THEM...there ARE a lot of big things going on behind the scenes that may play out better for all of us lets just hope they do. Live & let live.

Benefits? You could stop ****ing your money overboard and acually get paid to race. That is if you could qualify to make a team.
