So I quit smoking today.

Well holy sht, Dave. Nice to see you around these parts again.

Good luck. You'll need it. Beware the drink; it'll be the nemesis.

I quit about six months ago, after 36 years of being a heavy smoker. It's mind over matter. It's just slighly irritating. It's not like quitting heroin or anything. I have a half box of Chantix I never used.

Hi Nick. I have been checking in, but have been buried in work and travel between the 2 shops soon to be a third. I am going to go about this cold turkey, I can no longer come up with any excuse to even remotely justify it on any intellectual level any more. It is not going to be an easy go. I will lean on you guys as needed Nicky as far as booze goes, for me it is no different then waking up, coffee, the phone, getting into the car....ect. As I said this is not going to be easy gig.
HT

Good luck, and stay strong!

I went out to buy smokes today, and as I was driving, it crossed my mind that I should just quit.
The wife and I both smoke a little over a pack a day. If I go to the local grocery or carry-out, it's about $65 a carton.
So, instead, I go out to the Indian reservation, and they are about $50 a carton.
Always buy two cartons, so about $105 every time.
Two people= 2-1/2 packs a day.
So, two cartons is a little over a week.
So, about $420 a month spent on smokes.
Not to mention, it takes about 40 minutes on my day off to run out to the reservation and home after picking up smokes.

I've just been lazy, and haven't put the effort into consciously trying to quit.

Good Luck. I quit a 2 pack a day cold turkey. Enough was enough.

May wife had an interesting saying that may help.

"With all that is known about smoking if you continue to smoke you are either stupid or selfish. Neither of which is very attractive."

I believe it is all about the proper mind set . You can do it.

Chantex- that stuff is big money if you don't have a scrip plan!

I some times smoke when I drink- been about 3 months since a puff but bet I go through a pack or two over New Years

Chantex is the easy way. I tried it, it works , but don't stop taking it because you will start again if your not careful. The stuff really worked well for me.
