Customer service nightmares!!

Why is it that people can not figure out that they are not taking care of customers the way they should!!!

Last month it was Comcast. They could not get some cable cards activated at one of my customers houses, blew off a couple appointments..... I had over 40 hours into trying to get some cable cards activated! When the last guy came I went out and disabled his truck and would not fix it tell he finished the job. I told him as soon as he walked in we had bad cards. 4 hours later he is still working on the problem and finally tried new cards and we were good to go.

Now we are dealing with Sony. They were to send us 4 computers for a customer that were custom engraved for the kids for the holidays. Well needless to say two of them showed up engraved, one not engraved and the other has never shown up! After a TON of calls to Sony their solution is for us to send back the one computer that has not been engraved (at our cost) and have it engraved, OR we can bring the computer to the local store and they will engrave it at, get this, OUR COST! Are these people serious? We tried to cancel the one computer that has not arrived and they said that we would have to ship back the computers that we have received at again OUR COST. They can not find the missing computer or tell us were the missing computer is. They say it shipped but when asked for a tracking number they refuse to give it. Some times I wonder how companies stay in business. I mean mistakes I can work with, I make them all the time, but to not make it right? WTF!!

Customer Service is now being taught in history class. It has a become a lost art over the last decade.

Customer service still exists, call any of America's small businesses. The larger companies, especially discounters believe that price always wins out and consequently are always squeezing their labor force.

Fortunately web based customer reviews are helping to re-shape how business operates.

don't pay the bill and the problem will work it's way out.

That is what we did and amazingly enough we eventually got put on the phone with some one that is sending a Fed Ex pick up tomorrow and they will turn it around fast and no charge. The problem is we HOPE that they don't screw it up. The good news is we are sitting on 4 computers that they have not even billed us for! I was dieing when my brother started to do the fart thing oh my god. You could tell the lady heard it and was like what the....

I agree with this post Wobble. And, when I book or purchase on-line, I read the reviews.

I have become pretty accustomed to paying top $$ for pi$$ poor service on everything and anything. When I get anything better than $hit, I am really surprised:(

Lately I have become a fan of Newegg.com for tech purchases, puts many of the others to shame, I think they average 4 e-mails per purchase. And they are very quick too.

1/ Order Confirmation
2/ Payment charged confirmation
3/ An Invoice
4/ Tracking information

One of my favorite customer service stories... One of my buddies drove from Huntington Beach, to the Inland Empire. Approximately 20 miles so probably an hour drive each way... He went out to a local marine parts supplier to purchase some parts for one of his two boats. He had to "ring the bell for service" because nobody was avalilable at the front desk to help him out. After he rang the bell, someone came out from the back and told him that everyone was busy and he'd have to wait.

OK, so no problem yet right? I mean, it does bug me a bit when I go to the effort of actually driving to a business and get the "one minute" treatment so that the vendor can help someone who's called on the phone after I've arrived, but I'll admit that I'm probably being childish... Anyhow that wasn't the case here.

The thing that everyone was doing that was keeping them busy... Playing basketball in the shop. My buddy could hear them right on the other side of the wall, laughing, shouting, bouncing the ball...

He waited and bought his part, and then never purchased a thing from them again. And on the up side, he's told nearly everyone he knows about it as well.

I'm gonna pour salt in the wound on this one Jon. Wouldn't have happened if you bought a Mac. :)
