Count Down to the Keys

Today Officially marks T-minus 30 days and counting, till Key West. As always the pilgrimage to KW is like no other, its a boater's paradise, drinker's Paradise, and just a damn good time. Follow along the Countdown as we highlight some of the best pictures of Key West World's past.

In the above photo of the 2013 World's, Chris Schoenbohm and Ryan Beckley were letting it hang out in Chris's 32 Doug Wright. They ended up finishing fourth overall, just barely off of the podium. This year Gary Ballough is rumored to be joining Chris in the cockpit to take a shot at the 2014 World Championship.

The small photo below, and in the scroller at the top of the forums, can be seen in its full glory in this thread in post number 11. It is of the winning Superboat Unlimited Budweiser Select 50' Mystic with Dave Scott as Owner/Driver and Johnny Tomlinson as Throttleman in 2007. They had a very good event that year and Dave said after, "It felt great to bring home this title, especially in the way we were able to do it. It's great to see all our hard work pay off. Not only did we win, but we were able to lap the whole field, including the much larger, 5,000 HP turbine boat along with the boat we won the world championship with two years ago [now belonging to AquaMania]. It is a great accomplishment, and I am proud of our whole team." Serious Offshore

T-minus 29 Days, will there be a international fleet??

In 2012 the Metamarine 46 with 950 HP diesel engines ran well. There were a few times the boat was rolled up on its side like the above photo as they pushed hard in the corners with what had to be a much heavier boat than the competition. They blew the start in the first race or they would have been in the battle for first. They came over the pond, and then some, from Italy. Serious Offshore

Last year Black Pearl finished first in all three days events in the P3 class, a dominate win for the team. Serious Offshore

This year the new WHM Skater will be in attendance, not this boat. The wins this boat has had are certainly numerous. The new class rules have made the competition intense. Serious Offshore

T-minus 24 days!!

The Qatar Turbine boat was certainly a beautiful piece of water art. In 2013 it made all three starts at the World's, but ran a total of only 7 miles combined, still winning the World Championship because it made all three starts. There is no Turbine Class for Key West this year, or the upcoming 2015 season. The demise of the Geico Turbine boat, along with the other Turbine race teams rarely shwing up for events, caused the class to be cancelled. Serious Offshore

Amsoil is supposed to be back at Key West this year after skipping the World's the last couple of years. This will be their first ever World's with the new 510 Cu In engine package and they will be one of the smallest cats in the race. They did run six races this year dialing in the new package, winning three of them. Serious Offshore

Throwback Thursday, T-minus 16 Days till Key West! one of the many match-ups that fans are looking forward to seeing! this one from 2010, and Amsoil came out on top. Fast forward to 2014, and Supercat will be like a cage match, only real!

One of the tightest contests ever witnessed in an offshore race.
