Sounds like you all had fun. Did you get quite a few boats. Elizabeth we have a pretty good outdrive guy we use for Bravos. Mr Gadgets on OSO, if your friend needs his contact info we have it. He has saved us big money and is honest.
JJ i hope you don't peel everwhere, I hope you are feeling a bit better today. Ian got pretty burt standing on the beach at the hot hole all day. His burn is really odd, he put on a lot of #30, and I put a lot on his back, but he missed several spots. Since the man never goes barefoot or wears sandals, and is never without white socks, the tops of his feet are whiter than my azz. Because of the shells and other sharp objects on the beach he gave in and wore his beach sandals for the first time. Well he wound up with the WORST burns on the top parts of his feet that the sandals did not cover, he also has two big red patches his left and right side, and more red patches on the part of his legs behind his knees. He really looks VERY spotty. I did not get burnt, I was careful and spent a lot of time under the tent.
I must say it was a fabulous weekend, I kept saying, we are really too old to party this hard. Sorry to bore you but here's a quick rundown.
Friday night put in at Erie Metro Park, docked at Rocky & Colleen Smiths house, jumped in their 66 Classic Chevy and participated in the Downriver Cruise and had dinner.
Then went to the Ford Yacht Club and closed that bar down. Had an early morning walk on Grosse Isle, then we hit the lake, the water was fabulous and we got to Monroe by 10AM. The hot hole's tricky to get to, so we followed another LEOPA boat in, we were able to beach the boat, good thing we brought our 6' ladder. The club had a cookout and Dave Powell set up his DJ equipment. We decided not to spend the night and followed a LEOPA boat to the Ottawa River, docked at the Riverview Boat Club, had a nice dinner at the River Cafe, then Rob showed up and bought each of us a drink, thanks Rob. Headed back to the RVBC watched the fireworks from the back of our boat while drinking a bottle of wine, then headed to the clubhouse for dancing to the live band and the BEST brandy Alexanders (tall and only 4 bucks/better than the Pump's!). Then the next morning enjoyed the $6.00 all you can eat Breakfast Buffet at the Ottawa River Boat Club. Followed Chris's Formula until we were in a safe area and had a VERY choppy ride back to Erie Metro park. We pulled in our driveway at 2PM very exhausted but grinning ear to ear because we had so much fun. I am blown away and amazed by all those small boat club in that area. LEOPA joined the association so we have reciprocal privileges, the drinks and food are so reasonable and most offer free dockage for the night, it really makes the weekend much more affordable. At Ford, I drank really large glasses of Kendal Jackson Cabernet for $4.00, at the RiverCafe they wanted $9.00 a glass for a lot less, the Brandy Alexanders at the club were $4.00 and Ian's vodka and Tonic were $1.80. I just love these clubs.
