A pal from NY said that he saw on the news a blurb about some big "speedboat" that caught fire and burned for hours.

Anyone?

Xtreme Xhibit caught fire while be worked on and burn to the ground.

Damn, really?

I was JUST talking about that boat recently, and wondered where it had been lately. He used to do ALL of the poker runs, but I hadn't seen or heard about the boat in some time. That's really too bad. That was one exotic boat for sure

I'm not 100%, sure but I believe it is illegal to store gasoline indoors in drums or closed containers in NY............

If that is correct..... I wonder how his insurance carrier is going to approach this?

Even though it may be illegal to store gasoline in the building it shouldn't be enough cause for his insurer to restrict or deny coverage on the loss.

I hope so....... It looks like this was a place of business and there will be lost income, fire damage restoration costs.....and other things I'm sure..... This isn't just about a boat.

Agreed. I work as a multi line claims adjuster in Illinois. That building has to be a mess from heat and smoke damage and I highly doubt he could conduct any business operations out of any part of that building.

boat may not even be insured if he hasn't been using it.....If I had it stored in a secure building and wasn't using the boat I wouldn't think twice about cancelling the insurance. I believe that was a quad engine NT 50 so the insurance has to be substantial enough that you may consider cancelling it if you aren't using the boat......

What a shame.
Did the owner of the building own the boat? Most storage contracts that I've seen state that building insurance does not cover contents stored. If the boat were financed, the bank would require coverage at all times.

Bummer, remember that boat when it was at the Miami show & he was pull'n out right next 2 me years ago at Smoke on the Water! Awesome piece of machinery!!!:(
