Used the snow rack on the roofs yesterday. It has been a few years since we did that. When you get a good load off the roof it sounds like a truck hitting the ground.

Lake Erie is mostly frozen. The past few years it didn't freeze.
When I was a kid they drove 10 or 15 miles from Put In Bay or Kelleys to the mainland on the ice. They collected Christmas trees and dropped them on the ice along the established safe route. You drove from tree to tree on the ice. When the ice thawed, the trees disappeared.
Now they run the ferries longer if no ice or fly it if the ice is sketchy.
A lot of years people have gone out on the ice on a day with a strong southwest wind and a huge ice chunk breaks off and they are stranded. Some fire departments along the shore have hovercraft, etc. Around 15 years ago, Coast Guard helicopters from Detroit had to ferry like 300 people off a massive chunk of ice. They were pissed. (The CG).
