Let's talk SVL's!!! 2010 is coming fast!

Anyone have pics of these seats? Are they suspension seats?

Well i,v been gone all day ,,I just got back with my new seat stuff ,,real cool stuff,,,I can see how you could run on the edge all day and not pee blood the next day...like most have said this week,,,Big Time ,,,, form what i see it,s two round tracks sliders and a (late model stock car ) coil over shock and adjustable spring about a #80 with a spanner nut ,,Dean i don,t see their being any room issues either ,,can,t wait to install ,,,probably after Patchog for ATLANTIC CITY ,,,,AND ,,,,ORANGE BEACH,, the last two races could get bumpy!! AND A BIG KISS AND HUG GOES OUT TO ,,,NAUTI--COOL LISA MATHEWS,,for the new stuff,,,,Thanks LISA ,,,,GEORGE JR.

george maybe you should get some advise from the Doc!!! One your back that is!!!

Not to get to "technical' in the intrinsic mechanics of the spine, I can offer a a few points to consider( or disagree with):
There are many critical variables to consider beyond the dampering effect of a boat seats( with or without shocks).
#1 The sagital balance of the (lumbar lordosis & thoracic kyphosis) spine is very important for the load distribution across the vertebral motion segments.
#2 The BMI ( Body Mass Index) of the person in the seat, in relationship to the loads applied.
#3 The excursion of the seat, and clearance in the cockpit
#4 The flexion of the hips and knees when secured in the seat, at rest.

The loads generated and distributed across the avascular disc exceed 6 times the body weight with a simply jogging. When a patient with a normal sagital alignment is a sitting position ( hips flexed ~30degrees) the verticle force distribution may be 3-5 times greater than jogging and standing

Recently, I have reviewed diagnostic images (and treated ) a few experienced boat racers with spine related problems, So the take away message is , get some advise on the best custom ergonomic seat to maximize the benifits for you and your co-pilot.

Great info....
With the pounding we are taking...your experiance in this field may help us all in making the seating in furture boats take are safety to the next level..

Thanks for posting...

would it be better to recline the seat backwards vs keeping it more vertical?

for instance the first 32 DW that GB had was cut down alot and the seats had to be installed on what seemed to be a 45 degree angle compared to some of the Skaters I've seen where the seat position almost vertical like sitting in an office seat?

Perhaps, I ran this by our physical medical specialists and researchers in the lab,,,,,,,,,,in general they agreed,, but the obvious trade off is visablitly, and controls,,,,,,
Remember each person's normal sagital ( side view) alignment is not the same, and so many variations occur,,
Just food for thought, not trying to make this to complex,,, "but safety is no accident",,

Doc, Im thinking a mold like is done for cancer/radiation treatment to hold the body aligned and supported in position with just enough padding to be comfortable and the belts holding you tight against the form while letting the suspension do the work (shoulder belts should pull you back into the form not downwards)

I have installed wedges before to recline race seats. Presently the IMCO boat has reclined seats. I make a point to push my shoulders hard into the seat back with my feet on the foot rests. I have found it makes for a more comfortable ride.
