Lake Erie forecast is the same. Gale Force warning effective tonight through Tuesday morning. Might be worth a video.

Warm up thoses engines its time to go play in the waves.

I can remember when i was young and dumb like 15 years old i used to go out the next morning after these fronts blew through in one of our 18 foot Barons and play.

By the morning they were just huge swells 10 to 12 feet high , i know what a big waves look like i sailed all over the great lakes in a 48 foot sailboat.

Anyways they were to big to get any speed going into them but another guy that used to come out in a 25 Nova and i used to have a ball running parallel to them at about 55 and than about every 5th wave or whatever wave looked good kinda carve into it and head to the sky.

We would get so high up it was scary.Every once in a while completly jump over the next wave and land in the trough.

I never dreamed of getting hurt it was just fun and the boat came down solid and rightside up every time.

I would never do that again after reading about all the accidents on here. I must have been really lucky.

Anyways Todd i expect to see you buzzing the Grand Haven pier on the webcam.

Donts forgets too where yourz helmetz or you could get bwain damaaaghe.

hell we used to go out in huge pacific storm swells on pwc's.... we jumped those things so high we were afraid the FAA was going to come after us....

I hear ya phragle!!! The stuff we all used to do!!

During the huge Noreaster in the early 90's, my friends and I snuck past the national gaurd to go surfing because the wind had just shifted offshore!!!

Yea i worked on the beach for years on the Gulf down here and we used to get some huge air on the rental skiis.

Some of the most fun i had was back in the late 80s windsurfing on the days that it was to rough to parasail in.The guys running the skiis could barely keep up with us windsurfers and we would all try to see who could out jump each other.God it was fun back then.Believe it or not we could outrun the skiis most of the time but that was back in the day of the old 550 Yamaha sitdowns.

I have access to the skiis anytime but the new heavy skiis will kick your azz these days. Just to much weight to them, they control you on the landings and will fling you where ever they choose.

tommy you would have needed to look quick yesterday. i was on the pier at 2p. and the waves were all of 4'. and the wind was not even blowing yet. by the time i got to the boat house, ran over to the gas station and back to the end of the pier in the boat. they had built to 4-6's. so we ran around for a little while. the wind had shifted by the time i got out and the waves were coming form all directions. so i had a hard time getting on top of them. when you would fall into a hole you could not see over the waves. we got soaked, glad the water was warm. and yes we had race/life jackets on. just looked at the surfgrandhaven cam and that some big water.
