favorite youtube boat video

It's amazing to see the disparity between us old timers and the young guns. At 42 I'm not old, but I started racing back in the mid 80's.

The biggest difference as I see it is the older guys want to see the big water stuff. The bigger the better. Whether it's one boat against the elements like the Warpath video or the whole fleet running to Sand Key. More focused on the crews work, mainly the t-man, than that of the boat.

The younger guys, whether it be age or just newer to the sport, like to see the flat water, close to shore, full speed runs. Focus is definitely on the machines and the technology.

Whichever you prefer, it all works, as long as it's about racing boats.

schooling time for some.... when posting youtube links it's easy to have them show up here.. replace the * with the actual letter

1. copy the end of the youtube url
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKZcTS1HgB4
so copy the IKZcTS1HgB4

2.then type [y*utube]

3. then paste the copy [yo*tube] IKZcTS1HgB4

4. then type [/yo*tube]

5. when it looks like (** have been added so it wont be an actual embed)
[Y*****E] IKZcTS1HgB4[/Y*****E]

your done.

A lot of the poker run footage is shot with a mix of women, flashy boats, music etc. and the events would be cancelled in big water so you won't see a lot of rough water poker run videos. They are out there but not really prevalent due to liability issues (Smoke on the water had a really rough water event a few years ago).

The race footage is focused on the team because that is where the action is, there is no music, no girls in bikinis etc. They raced in all types of water and had major celebrity involvement/ network coverage back then so lots of videos were produced. Sammy Davis Jr. was involved with an Apache race in the 80's with James Caan as a navigator on the boat. Those guys were big celebrities back then so the networks covered them and the races.

the Warpath vid has always been one of my favorites, but I think Cashbar may have swayed me a little. Hotties and boats!

Son of a beyatch. I guess I'm old! :biggrinjester:

I'd much rather watch a smaller boat running 60mph through some big stuff and getting air than a 40' + boat running 140 mph in flat water.

Some of the best racing that was aired on TV was the year Typhoon and Activator battled it out all year. I think it was 2002? There were a couple of rough races and all those F1 boyz hung it out big time!
