Reactive Attachment Disorder

The real story here is for the voters, and hopefully, the voter's outrage will somehow trickle down to the greedy party leaders. Palin was a joke, but after Dubya, it was easy for the party regulars to rally around cute one-liners and get 'em all fired up. Forget for now that McCain was stupid enough to say she was the foremost energy expert in the country. Every time she spoke about energy and drilling, there was loud laughter emanating from boardrooms across the country.

The real story is that Republicans shouldn't go down that road again. I agree with the poster that inferred that the last election may (hopefully) have eliminated religion as a big issue.

Both sides continue to miss the point, and reality. Biden has been a complete baboon as VP, and I used to like the guy. Palin was parading around as a Superstar, while R's were knocking Obama for actually being a Rockstar. The irony shouldn't be missed.

The supreme irony is that as she matured and became more politically savvy, Hillary was probably the best choice. Oh well, better luck next time.

A third party would be nice.

You must be friggin jokin. How can you say that with a straight face?

this is why I'm off this thread. Comparing a petty, narcissistic bimbo (do some research on her tenure in Wasilla) who went to five different colleges before she managed to graduate, to a constitutional scholar who was the editor of the Harvard Law Review is beyond me.

Two of the three richest men in the world did not finish college, and the third of the three went to three different schools to make it through later in life.

Being book smart does not make you wise, or capable, by any stretch of the imagination. It only makes you institutionally smart. That is one of the reasons the current administration is failing at succeeding in improving anything. They've read it, some equally inexperienced intellectual professor learned it in his classes, but not a one of them has implemented it to weed out the good and bad from all philosophies.

That is also the reason the far right, and far left, always fail whenever in power anywhere.

Very, very true. It took me at least three years to really believe that Dubya was about the worst President in my lifetime. Lots went into that feeling, and not a bit of it partisan. I will, likewise, not be partisan in judging the O man only six months into his term.

Whenever I do judge him, it will be based first and foremost on some pertty broad topics.

How well did he neutralize (or just use to his benefit), Pelosi and Reid?

How well can he focus on core issues, and maintain his focus in the midst of partisan bickering, media outbursts, and public frenzy?

Can he maintain longer term vision, ignoring short term points?

Can he turn on a dime when needed, change his premise, and even discuss publicly the Why?

I never fully accepted Dubya as a leader, but later I realized that it was just his myopic thinking that formed my opinion. He's a good guy I think, just not a good manager. We've had such a dearth of real leaders running for office, that Obama became the light so to speak. He hopefully, will turn out well and will turn when needed, be non partisan when required, and be someone that will choose the best advice.

It won't be too long before the next cycle picks up steam. So we'll have politicians from both sides trying to stymie good ideas from the other side. At some point, a true leader will emerge that will rise above the political banter, and people will shift their attention away from the little people, and direct it on a single person. That's pretty much what made Reagan respected in both parties.

You should start a new thread with htis one...

But, gotta have rules, no comments or phony answers...

My question;

So everyone, do you think the Mayans are correct about 2012, or do you think you'll finish ahead of schedule?

I'm personally loyal to the Fiscal Conservative movement, not Republican party. if the Independent party is going to be the next powerhouse of fiscal conservatism, then I'm already in the RIGHT place.

On the social side, help the ones who can't, F-Bomb the ones who wont.

"Please pass the pork?"

That could be used at any political dinner.

If they Mayans guess society would end in 2012, then they just got downgraded to ridiculous cult status. Regis, that's my final answer.

Jay, you keep bringing up Palin's lack of experience, which I don't really disagree with. Just explain to me how in the hell you think your messiah is more experienced. Is it the position as a half term senator that never showed up for work, or his position as community organizer that one ups the position of governor? At least Palin does have "some" executive experience.

exactly!!!!

I went to a few schools which made me wiser to the world and honed my social skills vs being "content" and comfortable in one.

Ok- so not the best example... Nevermind..

That's a good start for a platform...I continue to ask why do we not have a balanced budget ammendment????

Whatever Bush or whoever started it certainley doesn't appear that Obama will end it...he and his merry band of self-appointed do good spenders are just making it much, much worse.

If we had a balanced budget amendment, our politicians couldn't borrow against our children's future and use those dollars to buy votes today. Our government runs the same way our people operate- borrow every nickle you can, spend every cent of it on stuff that makes you feel good and worry about tomorrow when it get's here. It always works out in the end, right?

As far as a third party, before that works, we'll need another Constitutional amendment- this one abolishing the College of Electors. That's the one major time bomb lurking inside our government- and I expect it to pop in my lifetime. Three legitimate candidates, split the vote and a 4th guy that is given the office by a tiny handful of selected representatives.

in addition the fourth option should be a vote of "no confidence" that would nulify any election and make them start over.

Kinda off the subject but does any one else find that the economy that was not in any way perfect decided to tank 3 months before the election?

Was it fear of Obama being elected................Or did someone want him it.

Review post 83.

Pretty much business knows what these guys really stand for by who purchases them with contributions. When it became obvious Hillary and McCain had no chance, the markets and investments started pulling back.

Goldman Sachs helped guarantee a Dem win by cornering the energy market. It has to be true since Sunkin read it in Rolling Stone.
:D

The economy was in bad shape for a lot longer than anyone wants to admit. Last year it was just dieseling on fumes before it finally ventilated the case.
