Whats the diffrents

INTAKE MANIFOLDS ,
Dart
Team G
Edelbrock
for dominator carbs rect. ports

Which of the above 3 is the best and why ????

Thanks,,,but what really is the differents in performance ,,,which one is best ?
standard deck single plane dominator.
I have a dart now ,,,is there a better one in flow performance or no or all the same ???

I am running the Merlin X intake. It has bigger runners than the Victor I have sitting on the shelf. I don't know if it is really any better though. It was designed for 540+ cubic inch engines. I just bought it because Summit had them on sale for $199 for the brass lined marine version. I honestly don't think there is enough difference to worry about between any of them.

I thought as much but you didn't clarify single-plane or dual-plane or dual-plane high-ries so I was flying blindly.

I've used the Edelbrock on my scarab engines and the dart over the years and thought the Dart was the best. I wanted to use the Merlin marine because of the brass insert but never got a chance. My friend ran the team-g on his 502's and was happy with it... I think they're all pretty close.

One thing that seems to help them is a 2" carb spacer.

You got the Best.

Don´t phuck around with it until I see the package in person. :sifone:

Or Should I take a Tunnel Ram with Twin dominator flanges with me, I got also and 4X2 Weber intake for BBC.... if they are eligible.

A I.R. intake would really wake any motor up.

Merlin is a tad big for a 540 Marine IMO, has bigger runners than the Dart but actually one can´t tell much of a difference between any of these except on the Dyno.
Some wake up a bit lower others higher but in a boat it´s no big deal here, they all are so similar.

Has anyone looked at the profiler sniper and sniper jr intakes for a marine application?
Article in engine builder shown 45hp increase on a 496 drag motor over closest competitor. Strange looking intake, but seems to be the new up and coming design for drag guys on BBC.

I don't disagree. The "X" intake that I am running is bigger that the standard merlin too. I just never could get used the the looks of the regular merlin with the dominator flange. I intend to dyno my mill this winter and will try my merlin "X" vs the the Victor I have sitting on the shelf. If anybody has a dart with a dominator flange I'll try that too. By the way, the too big Merlin runs really damn good on my 555ci with excellent throttle response throughout the RPM range.

Scott, here is the profiler.

Thanks, would love to try one ,but it actually looks almost like my Dart.

If u need a Dart single dominator intake ,,i think i have a spare.

Seems every brand advertises just like that...

But can anyone claim to to outdust a Individual Runner setup....
NO.

Scott you got the Dart already and I feel with its longer divided runners you have it nailed if the rules state you must use a single 4bbl.

might be the Runner length vs bore size comes to the right harmonics with your combo and therefore good Throttle response despite it having somewhat short runners IMO.
Thenagain the Big plenum I reckon helps your case at the initial throttle response as the engines doesn´t starve for air and has to breathe a long way to gasp som air initially.
When the Rpms rise it´s a matter of vaporspeed, droplet size and harmonics.

I´d love to wetflow test these all just to see what they do myself.

A spacer works different on each aplication, the further u go from the block the later the torque kicks in the powerband.
So if u run high RPM's a spacer is ok but if u pleassure boat with allot of idle and mid range,,absolute nonsense.

Mikey, I don't see where the runner length of the Dart vs. the Merlin X is appreciably different. They look pretty damn close to me. Like said above I think all so close you will never know the difference unless you opened the hatch. The main difference I see is the open vs clover leaf mounting flange. And Geronimo, I am running a 1" wilson 4 hole spacer. ;)

Thats the only differents i see too,and also the diverters inside are different.
My engine guru said the DART is best overall !!!!
Still don't know why and would like to hear more opinions.

There you have it... the Dart has longer dividers and more runner area, agreed ? Thats the most important part there when the divider is shaped like that on a Dart, up the plenum.
The cloverleaf flange might give a better signal But I reckon only with a 4 hole spacer.
An open would ruin it.

It worked very well in all the pleasure boats I've put them on and the dyno also showed the same results. ;)

Actually idled better too... ;)
