My apoligies... I didn't mean to come off like they are screwing over their customers.. In all reallity it is a good marketing ploy. A little deceptive though...
Please don't misunderstand my earlier posts because By all means I am not talk'n trash on any of the other performance boating magazines. I receive all of them except Performance Boats which I will subscribe to soon. Unfotunately the magazine biz is in a little turmoil right now due to our faultering economy. It all depends on advertising... and when the ads just aren't there what do you do? I geuss one might have no other choice but to resort to throwing a different cover on the same book. Marketing or whatever I myself would'nt do it.. The way I see it, If my customers don't like my book because of the cover, Don't buy it.. If I never reach the stature of HB or EB or whatever without re-covering the same book from "coast to coast", than I geuss so be it.. I geuss what I am trying to say is that even with our small operation we still make it happen with very few advertisers and still make a buck. These guy's have been established for a while and have the top advertisers in the US and thousands of subscibers. They should be rolling in the dough.. and therefore they shouldn't have to worry about re=covering for different audiences. but as we all know, It's all about the $$$$$$$$
