Unemployment

None taken. Sorry to kill the joke.
It is funny. It's just that the work world is changing faster than Jimmy's writers can go. :D

Actually... I worked and didn't graduate until I was 30, going part time. Then, when I did graduate I was self-employed for 5 years. Self-employment separates the men from the boys. My Dad used to think that every man should be in the military for a while to learn how things work. I think that everybody should be self employed for a while. It turns them into really good employees if they ever go back to working for someone else... because they really get it.
I hope we can survive it too... because my business relies on people like you who have created jobs, created opportunity and created wealth.

Unfortunately while this country has racked up massive debt from the handouts, absolutely no help has been given to small businesses. Not that I'm asking for any handouts...just sayin' that the debt will eventually bite us hard. It's tough to work hard when there is no work to do.

No offense, it came from Jimmy Fallon...pretty much sums it up. My ed came from the school of hard knocks. Some night classes while working full time from age 18...have my own business and self-supported for 20 years now. Just hope we can survive this downturn...

I've been in business for myself for 28 years. I'm going back to college next month to get a degree. I'll keep my business, at the rate it is going, I should be able to do both at the same time. I've done a total of five jobs all year. I averaged 1.5 jobs a month for over 15 years.

I agree with your dad. You don't know when you go from a boy to a man, but if you go in the military, you will. I'm one of the few kids of my generation of boys that didn't go in the military. My brother did. I almost did when I thought I was going to be drafted. I was going to hurry to the Navy recruiter. Dad spent 23 years in the Navy, and he had a good point that I would have a warm bunk to sleep in, instead of a rice patty. My older brother went in the Navy.

I was just telling a counselor at the college I'm going to that military men carry themselves with a different demeanor than most. This guy retired from the Navy where he was the Naval attache for the US in my home country of the Phillipines. He was also Naval attache in Tokyo. I liked him a lot.
