The morning after, now what?

It’s official: Obamacare debuts with more canceled plans than enrollments

Obamacare may have promised health insurance for the masses. But on its first day, it’s left more Americans without coverage than before the law was passed.

More than 4.7 million Americans had their health insurance canceled as a result of any of the thousand-plus-page law’s new rules, The Associated Press reports, but the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) confirmed Tuesday that between federal and state exchanges, just two million Americans have signed up for Obamacare coverage.

This is great. In order to pay for this fiasco, my insurance premiums went up, my coverage went down, and I have a HUGE deductible. So huge, unless I have a catastrophic illness, I'll never even overcome it.
I am functionally uninsured but still pay premiums.

Politifact awards ‘Lie of the Year’ to Obama

The fact-checking Web site Politifact has named President Obama's claim that people could keep their health insurance plans if they liked them its "Lie of the Year."

Obama in recent years has repeated some variation of the following phrase: "If you like your health-care plan, you can keep it." The problem was, it wasn't true, as millions of Americans with health plans that didn't meet Obamacare's standards got cancellation notices.

Nobody has ever stopped to ask where does the $$$$ come from for the formerly un-insureds' coverages....

Blue Cross and Blue Sheild of Michigan has been running ads on the radio that are just enough to PI$$ me right off as soon as I hear them.

Starts off with, "The federal government has billions of dollars to subsidize your health insurance"
They do?
Where did they get these billions of dollars from???

F'd again:(

I don't see why if liberals care about the environment, they haven't approved the Keystone pipeline yet. The oil is being moved by semi's and trains, much more impact on the environment and more risk of environmental accidents. Pipeline less energy to move the oil and less chance of a major accident.

Not sure what to make of this one. GM lost big $$$$ (can you say another bailout?), and we officially have the highest corporate taxes in the world....

The U.S. has the highest corporate tax rate in the developed world. After Japan lowered its tax rate last year, the combined federal and average state tax rate of 39.2 percent in the U.S. was the highest of any nation in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Some mega-corporations pay billions of dollars every year in federal and state taxes. In its most recent fiscal year, Exxon Mobil (XOM) reported $31 billion in corporate income tax expenses. Some large corporations, on the other hand, paid no taxes at all and even received tax benefits. General Motors (GM), which had annual revenue of more than $150 billion, received a tax benefit of $28.6 billion.

Might be the highest corporate, but think Canada is still higher on personnel income taxes. In BC with our provincial rate and combine it with federal over $150K per year your paying 42.8% in income tax.

Does BC also have a sales tax?

In the US it depends where you live. New York City on $150,000 net income you'd pay 28% Federal income tax, 6.65% New York State income tax, 3.65% New York City income tax, then have an additional sales tax on purchases of 8.725%. Plus property taxes based on valuation of your property of 18.569% (Current average home value $502,000).

We have a provincial sales tax of 7% on goods and services, cigarettes, booze, and vehicles over $50K goes up to 10%. We also have a federal sales tax of 7% on all goods and services, so we actually pay 14% on almost everything. Property tax here is only 8%. Monthly healthcare premiums of $68 per month is like a tax. Consider Obamacare a tax and it would be the highest tax increase imposed in the world.

Obamacare is a tax, found to be so by the US Supreme Court. If it wasn't, it would be unconstitutional.....
