The Great Unification

Sean,

One of the problems I see is lack of communication. It is a secret society and everyone seems to be plotting against each other which is distructive. I hear very little about trying to work together.

Unification might not be the word but sharing could be. Some of the races we had out here were conflicting with other and hurt both events. (i.e. Poker run in Long Beach and a race weekend in San Diego)

We need to put the cards on the table and work together. Powerboating weekends. Kilo,Poker run, Fun runs, and racing like we had at Havasu works.

You also need help from people that have run the clubs in the past (David, Mikilos, Lurhs, Bull, Carbonel, Teague to name a few) and find out what worked and what did not. They all check in here.

Well said Pat, and I think most agree. Maybe a rethink to the great sharing should be the target.

Guy's I will give you what I know from the OSS camp. Negatiations for a unified joint OPA and OSS have failed to move in any direction to date. Talks have stopped and everyone is moving on. OSS is looking to some joint races if possable. APBA is having a confrence with all org. that are interested in trying to put the sport together again. Should happen early Dec. to put the cards on the tabel. Europe has some interest in doing some racing in the US. OSS has a new board comprised of all new people that are business people not racers. Geico is working on a big show. SOOOO with all this going on and back door meetings I believe everyone is trying to play nice with each other to see where there Org. fits best. I do believe and hope everyone knows it was broke as a sport and now is the time for a change a big change. Not everyone will like it but it needs a rebuild from the ground up. The word compramise needs to be used a lot to get it done. I hope this helps those of you that feel they are left out of the loop. lots of rumors have been floating around and its hard to believe any of them any more. I hope we can rebuild your trust and get more boats on the water next year.

Finally we have some sound advice from a couple of the racers.....that only took a decade.....All of you are absolutely right....NOW IS THE TIME!!!!!!

I believe on putting it on the tabel. Tim if you are refering to the Geico/OPA series I think they have a great plan. I know they are trying to lock there deal in first and then let us all know the deal. My problem as a OSS board member is no one has approched the OSS with any details at this time. Soooo as an org. OSS can not sit on its hands and wait to see what may or may not happen with there plan. OSS is staying the course and trying to put together a schedual for 2010. Being left in the dark we have no choice. I would think SBI is in the same position as well. Soooo it sure would suck if all the org. put there schedual out for next year and then someone say's wait look what we have to offer. We all know we are loyal to our Org. and if you think just beacause someone promisses something everyone will come running just look at this years promisses that were not filled. Racers need to be taken better care of than we have in the past. We have a very short time to make this happen and we will be into next season saying we will do it next year. Racers need to feel they can trust there org. or you will fall apart.

Randy is correct, teams are rigging boats right now for next year. Why do people (orgs) sit on their hands and hold the racers basically hostage? Then wonder why more teams don't show for races...

Look at Fury, we could be 850, 750, 525 or C1 next year.... but we can't do it overnight, a little information and lead time would go a long way.

Sean,
I think as soon as the info. is avalible we will all know. I guess it depends on what the SuperCats decide to do for next yr. I think the Org. will go with what they want to do. I know Qatar is leaving one of the boat here to run SBI next yr, but not sure what class they will be running. There has been some talk about tring to combine the SuperCat 750, 850, and the Qatar boat to some kinda level playing field. But again that is up to the racers not any org. Tony if you have any info. or know more facts jump in....

P1????? Yes its another stick in the fire. Just one more idea for racers to pick sides. Yes it can be big, but not on its own. For any of this to work you need boat count and a few premier classes. The key word is a few!!! There will have to be some feelings hurt in the begining but it would creat better racing. Isn't that what the fans and racers want. We need to stop this madness of having classes with under 5-10 boats.

With what happened in Key West with the Outboards, and what happened in a couple OSS races with the SVL's, those two classes seem to be the ones to watch.

I dont care where or with who, but i have to say this JC helped me to go racing , like many others so with out that it would not be for alot of teams.

If i can afford it then i will do it !!!!!

Right now building a new engine that will kick some A$$ in the 80-90 MPH open class, call it P4 or what ever u want.
I WILL BE THERE !!!!!!!

Having 10 boats in a class would be great, but there are to many diffrent boats so the only way to do that is by HP to WEIGHT ratio and then u still would need to seperate the twin from the single !?

UNITED ???????? A DREAM THAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOT JUST IN RACING BUT IN LIFE AND IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AS SAD AS THIS IS !!!!!!! :USA:

:beatdeadhorse5::beatdeadhorse5::beatdeadhorse5: this happens everyyear, only this year it started early,, I,V GOT A SECRET!! I CAN,T TELL YOU,,BUT MY SECRET IS BETTER THAN YOUR SECRET!!! has anyone went to , or contacted any other org, about next year,, i,ll guess,,,,NOT,,,,( were going to do joint races!) BUT I DIDN,T ASK YET,,, to see if their willing.. Racers need time to build boats to rules, that is how it is supose to work. NOT will build rules to who has the most boats, If ORG,S did their homework, they need to offer racers opportunity,,,,SCHEDULE,,,,COST EFFECTIVE,,,, PERKS( radio-press-mags--and if tv..) if you offer these things BETTER than the next guy,,this will grow,,,! i only hope for all our sakes someone will come foward quick and say this is what we can offer, and then and only then will racers make plans.. we need these things on paper to secure sponsorships ,, otherwise it,s back to same old same old ,,,race out of pocket untill it,s empty,, or your beggin for help to finish the season,,, and thats all i got to say about that! (Forest):leaving:

As DD said, well put, but unfortunately based off recent history, items have been put on paper and things were offered and oops it was somebody else's fault and didnt happen. What do we do now when someone comes to us and says this is what we have to offer? Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get(forest) :ack2:

And that's one of the reasons why I will not say anything.

It is not my place to announce it...

I will neither confirm nor deny what people are involved.

You will either love it or hate it...

Therefore there is a 50% chance you may be a part of it..... :sifone:

On that note....... :seeya: :driving:

Then why say anything at all Tim? Are people going to buy pictures from you because you claim to be an "insider"?

You're right......
No need.
I never claimed to be an "insider", I just have great resources.
Nonetheless, I have nothing futher to add and previous posts have been deleted. Carry on...... :USA:

I have no idea what the future holds, I do plan on helping/volunteering with OPA for the races I can as I have done the last couple years. As far as racing as a whole, I really cant see the economy getting any better next year, that has left a lot of boats on the trailer. We are not going to continue being able to get race sites to shell out money when we only bring a handfull of boats. Some sort of unfication/consolidation is going to have to happen, not to make people happy, but just to survive.
