The Great Unification

just a thought here.. I dont race cats so maybe I shouldn't say..or maybe I don't race cats so I can say without predjudice.. The whole 850/750 deal.. the solution sounds simple to me. If a merc 850 is supposed to make 850 hp,then use any motor but 850 hp is the hp limit, set a min. weight, all motors must have a scanable ecm, and dyno sheet, sealed. If you have the dyno numbers, pully sizes and ecm readings, its techable.

One of the biggee's in 850/750 is also the Class 1 boats that are around 900 I believe. The three into one would really open up some possibilities. But, like anything else when change occurs, some bad and good repercussions would also be in the spotlight.

does there really need to be a unification of org,s to grow the sport? or would it make better sense to have a unification of RULES,,then all boats could run in any series,at any time , and within the travel times they want to drive.,In the end ALL org,s would be the winner and all org,s would have a bigger better show! just asking?

I've don't understood the championship scenario with offshore racing. Three sanction bodies giving out titles. There needs to be one major sanction body to rule and crown the class champions. Having three sanction bodies giving out so many champion titles to weak class turnouts cheapens the sport.
A fans perspective.

I believe you will see one organization step up this year and provide the things that others have only promised. The Org will capture the racers by providing consistant sites and a soild schedule. This along with a poor economy will lead to a consolidation. With a large stable fleet of boats it will lead to expanded marketing and opportunities for the teams. My bet is on the OPA leading the way to unification. Sure there will be other Orgs or events, there always will be a place for those that can't make all the races to run their boats. But for those that want to race against other top teams only one Org can survive. Just my $.02

nascar has 4 champions in one class,,busch north (canada) busch west,, busch mid w, and the busch tv series,, i think series titles are in order,, but we need one world title.

Best thought yet !

I promised J.Speros I would not continue my hate campaign against ??? so I will not mention that club in respect of his wishes .

ON the real side of things to be ,OPA & SBI have the most ( not all ) consistent sites ). between the two ,they cover half the most ground ( offshore racing , not too much inland ) .
These two entities should tighten the rules to match . I do not believe they are far off now are they ? ( please advise if wrong .)

It really is time for OPA & SBI to to hook up rules wise .Both Smitty & JC are good buisinessmen ,and do quite well procuring the same sites each year .
Those two hold the key ,all they need is racer support .
Don,t even involve any other org,s right now . Its just arguing and there ???? ) Just you two ,(OPA & SBI )
You guys work only with each other ,THEN proceed to reach out to POPRA ( or whatever the west coast goes by now ) .
They ( popra ) will be easy to work in they always have played civilized during the whole debaucle since ,03 .I applaud all of them .

I realize $$$ and travel will hinder bringing all teams out to run both circuits ,however it will boost the boat count quite a bit ,toward the upper east and lower east coast sites .such as NY , Ocean city , The carolinas ETC.
I truly do hope OPA & SBI work on this , they are capable of having unity by spring .

Good luck guys , you two ARE the ones to do this .

( ,I would like to congratulate THE AMF team ,for over 5 years of constant positive ,move forward attitude . You are the team to emulate )

750/850/1500/C1 is easy Make it C1 only. Just follow their rules and maybe you to would be going to Rio or having your town host a C1 race.:sifone:

I am picking on the 1500 because with all that power they were 3mph faster than the 750's, whats the point?

Tim,

The point was to have open dialog. Try not to overlap races like New York and Point Pleasant..... Have the boats share venues. I am sure the teams would not mind if the dates changed allowing for more races close to home. They guys coming from the south are going a long way just for one event.

You need to have a team association like FOCA. That will help. You can call it ROA (raceboat owners association) you know a UNION. That way you can get the Orgs to listen and make the rules make some sence and improve on the race venues to go forward not downward in a spiral of death.

Well........sorry for the suspense folks, But I can tell you this We will run a race in early May, down South. Then we will go to Ocean City May 29 - 30. From there Toledo Ohio is almost a done deal for June19-20. Harrison Twp is stepping up their Game for, July17-18. St Clair the week after 24-25. Patchogue Aug 21-22. Sept will be either Point Pleasant or Atlantic City, date depending on SBI ny race. New site OCT, TBA. Sorry but there is a lot more to putting a schedule together than any of you may realize.

So dwell on that, I meet with the Geico boyz next week, more news to follow. AS last year...our door is open to anyone. I am hoping to put Sarasota on our schedule. And will invite SBI to Patchogue. Someone tell John. Thanks Smitty

Yes, but those are all minor league to the BIG show, the Sprint Cup. Do you guys want to remain minor league or be the show ?

I don't think we need to worry about that yet... we need races with boats first.. how much of a show would nascar be if 6 cars showed up at Daytona????
