The Great Unification

Would you say they run pretty even on the race course.

I saw last year WHM and CRC came in the Harbor first on Wed. On a longer course the 750's might have had the advantage.

Whats your take ? Race them together?

Yes, the 850's will be in front in most races. Jimmy ran well in Biloxi and got out front on the 3 mile straights. That is the only time I can remember one out in front the last couple years.

They are close enough to race together, you can mess with the weights some or the props some more if you wanted to really and try and even it out exactly, but the engines are fine.

That sounds like an easy group to merge into one. But, if you have more competition, therefore not as many wins, do you still continue to receive the sponsorship money?

On the rebuild/reseal. What if it needs a bore job? Is it then an illegal engine in SVL etc?

And, is anyone other than Merc certified to rebore/reseal?

no it won,t be legal if you rebore a block,,,and no knowone else can reseal them. in our series i think inovatition seals are legal in sbi ,(which i think there should be more certified sealers) it would promote more engine builders involvment.

Just my opinion.

Scott, you shouldn't make accusation toward people when you have no clue of what you are talking about. If anyone in SV suspected Smitty or anyother team of cheating we would tear the boat down!.. I also know and believe that Smitty is far too smart to destory the best Org in offshore just to get another trophy.

I believe if anyone has to worry about cheating it is in an Org were a guy is only running it for a profit and will make a class or rules just to let a sponsor or manufacturer take "first". If the racers don't have a say they are only leaving themselves open for a hard screwing.

By the way, there is no way he is cheating in SV. He runs on pump gas, has Merc head castings, stock intake, stock exhaust, stock ecu, 502 ci. and makes weight. Those are the rules and we all run by them. Smitty and Anthony win because they are better than we are, not because of the boat.

Jimmy,
why dont you call Teague and get the hrs he has on them, he is the first in and last out on test days, If that isnt a good source of info on the durability of the 525 nothing is.

A whether poeple like him or not, he is the National Champion in Cat Lite. undesputed!
he raced every org and won that title, he didnt buy it.

Good idea. If he raced the same engines as many years as George has it would be about 4,000......:ack2:

Was inovation the "accused" one back a few years ago?

I had previously asked him. He said he logged 4000 miles on the motors last season. Nobody runs more than Bob. He put 300 plus miles on it is Sunny Isles in 3 days.

You don't see DNF's in 525 classes.

You do see them but rare and its usually the drive hanging off the back, no fault of the motor. IN SVL that is, with the 6 it is a bullet proof package.

With the downturn in the economy, who is the Mercury Racing contact for the offshore organizations?

INONVATITION did nothing wrong !!!! they rebuilt an engine and used an engine BLOCK ( that mercury bought 50 of the same week because they could,nt any) and some how oss deamed it wrong, ps the funny thing is i think were racing against it NOW !!!

Thanks, I just remembered hearing something back in the past.

More boats, more prize money.

The extra 15k a race that Mercury was kicking into the 850 class stopped when the Mercury truck stopped coming as well. We were lucky to win the 6 boat 850 race last year (with Mecury bonus and contingency money).

As far as a contact at Mercury Racing, you will just have to call the office. Since Jim's stroke earlier this year, I am not sure on the actual person in charge of the racers stuff. I always talk to Dan or Dave in the shop with any technical question. Hopefully the economy turns around at some point for those guys, they were fun to have at the races.

Just curious are schedules being put together?? Patchogue, St clair, as well as Biloxi,
and LOTO, I think it is a great time for the powers to be to get on the phone and make sure race weekends dont conflict, and to provide race teams and fans time to look ahead and prepare for these events. Biloxi is usually the end of March or the begining of April, the fan support in this town is incredible, and the promoter's are Top Notch.
