Xtreme...some of us want the sport to be more than "races" with too few boats and too many winners.There were two races last weekend less than fifty miles apart.This is totally unacceptable!Each had only 20-25 boats in multiple classes.Dont tell me that the SBI race was great.:icon_bs:..there were not enough boats period!The OPA race was not that good either for the same reason.ONE RACE WITH 50 OR MORE BOATS WOULD BE ALOT BETTER FOR THE RACE TEAMS,RACE PROMOTERS,SPONSORS AND FANS

i agree trent one guy is gm and the other is ford and how do you tell them there are too many cars, someone close ??

As always I get the most responses when I post the question here BUT no one gives an answer that is very definitive!!!!!

The problem is you are asking the wrong people, and until everyone understand nothing will get resolved in an open forum like this the better off we will all be, if anything it make it worst. All the comments r from people that can't do a thing about what is going on, it just makes them feel good to though it out there and complain. :lurk5:... Smitty will do what he needs to for OPA and run his schedule and SBI will run theirs.If and when they decide it is time for something to happen it will. No one forced anyone put races on top of each other it was done for a reason, we might not know or like the reason but it was done.
Why dont we talk about Mcdonalds and Burger King and tell them that they would get more coustmers if they were one ????? Get everyones option of how they should do it and why, and then run it by the both of them and see what they think about our great ideas.
OPA and SBI is none of ours companies so we dont really have the right to tell them how to run their companies. They seems like they r doing pretty good on their own. Smitty has done a great job with OPA and John has been doing it for 19 yrs so i guess he r doing something right the rest have come and gone. It seems to me we get more complaining from NON-Racers when we do from Racers.
I guess as a group from Serious with all your great ideas of what needs to be done and how, you all should start a new org. and do it the right way and the racers will all come running to you. Put a Million in the bank and take a run at it for a yr, and next yr about this time when the Million is gone let us know how it went.

Thanks for your candor....I have actually talked to the right people as well... I am just trying to put my finger on the pulse of racing at the moment because earlier this year I was told that everything will fall into place......I just made a comment that has it really gained any ground??????

Frank's candor is close to the truth. He only left out one group, the racers. They could control the entire thing if they all got together. They certainly have gone the other way and changed the entire scenario in the past.
My personal opinion, things have regressed this year from the start. I think David Scott said it best at the Shootout interview, "We're making no plans for next year except the shootout until we see what happens with the organizations."
The economy keeps getting worse, the orgs are hurting, the racers are hurting, potential sponsors are hurting, etc.
Not a real good situation.

I know Paul.....I have been watching it for years....sad state of affairs!!!! But there is hope on the horizon!!!!

Like Paul said the economy is a huge factor, i think you will see more and more teams falling off. Time r going to get a lot worst before it gets better, and I think we all are going to have personal issues to deal with before boat racing.

You cant push a ROPE, there is NOTHING you r going to say to anyone that they don't already know. If and when the time is right they will make it happen. Dont think for a sec. they don't see what is happen and keepin a close eye on what is going on just like any other smart business men. There r reason for everything that happens in life don't ever think things just happen, and if its not meant to be then so be it.

Easy Frank dont ruffle your feathers bro..... If you guys were going to fix it you would have....lets call a spade a spade it still the same old BS none of you NONE has really taken the bull by the horns because it would mean concessions that none of you want to make......The only time you will make these concessions is when the MONEY is right then everybody will want a piece of the pie and will concede so in fact it will be about the almighty dollar.....dont kid anybody but when that element comes back into play then and only then will racing become something!!!!!!!
