I was fortunate to have a father that was very into music. He was a big Jazz fan in the 50's and 60's and got interested in bands like Floyd, ELP and some of the other, more deeply artistic stuff of the early and mid 70's. He was also deep into audio gear. In the early 70's he used to drag me and my brother to the local stereo stores to look at the latest stuff. Sometimes several evenings a week. Later I even ended up working in one, which at the time was just about as cool as being in a band.

I still have a pair of Magnepans, a hand made Jeff Rowland Design Group amp and a Rega Planet.
When I built my entertainment system a few years ago I made sure my speakers were Klipsch. Yikes...what I wouldn't have given to have this system in the early 70s!!! Actually it's a good thing because I'd be deaf by now.

Up untill 1979 I think we all tried the disco thing my brothers band even went from white punks on dope to everybody get up and boogy!!??:willy_nilly:The nite club in the Hamptons hed a Disco record smashing event!
It was a pretty fun time @2001 and all the other high end discos $25 bucks @ the door then was like $200 now!DISCO RIP!

Me too,,
I found most people that "hate" Disco or Dance music is because they cant dance or have no rythm.
So they listen to stuff so annoying or discordant you cant possibly dance to it like metal..

I Djed clubs in Miami/South Beach from early 80s to late 90s and can tell you disco/dance music never died.
Its just all the wanna be's were weeded out..

I was the manager of a high end audio place for a while. Then I did live sound for a while. One thing for sure about Klipsch... they have that old school concert PA sound because of the horn HF drivers. Kind of bright for me. But cool speakers.
My current favorite is a pair of Audio Physic. The soundstage is unbelieveable. They induce an emotional reaction in people who have never really heard the music that they have been listening to for years.

yup, Philly it is... it was Dynaco, I bought a receiver kit and speakers from them in late 73, built it that night/next day and had it for years, maybe 15 years or more..... wish I still had it, but Hurricane Andrew drowned it... BEST kit out there by far..
Some of the things listened to and did gave me those disorders at times.
The Ohm A was a truncated cone facing downward. The voice coil was above. It drove into a cabinet with passive radiator for bass.
