Just got home after 2 days of used car auctions, stepped in the door to listen to the news of the closing of the Chrysler stores around the country.I thank god at this time I'am a Ford dealer,I don't say that to be cocky,I just know how lucky I'am at this time. They said it was coming, just does not seem fare that they can close your store and give your product to the guy accross town because he has a newer store,or maybe just did not know the right factory guy to kiss up to.I don't get on this page to *****,I'am a positive guy. This is just all to screwed up.I hope we can start to reverse all of this mess!Good thing it's boating season,it's agreat escape!

I am with ya!! i am not cocky either but i am happy to be in a Ford store as well!!! Blue Oval which store do you own?

just does not seem fair that they can close your store and give your product to the guy accross town

+1 News tonight showed a guy on Long Island, NY in top 2% at 100 cars a month being shut down. 100 cars is top 2%? Seems weak but feel for him and his 48 employees none the less

Bob Mathers Ford, the dealership was started in 1917,we still operate out of the original building. We try to keep it painted and looking good.My father took it over in 1973.We have had pressure years ago to build a new store, glad we did not!

And Blue Oval has a 1917 and a half Ford to prove it. :D

I should have had you snag a car for the kid while you were in Allen Park.

And cosider how much crap Bill Ford (etc.) took over that restructuring... It's a shame, but I guess he wasn't the idiot the all made him out to be after all.

It's a really crumby deal across the board.

Actually, Alan Mulally and Mark Fields deserve the credit. Bill deserves the credit for bringing Alan on board.

I've never been an auto dealerm but I have been a multi location boat dealer. Some of the biz is the same.

I think the dealers also need to look in the mirror while the mfg's signed up new stores around them. At a certain point it's up to them to tell the mfg that if they put another dealer or dealers too close and dilute the market they can stick their inventory where the sun doesn't shine.

There is a critical point at which the scales tip and the mfg gains more powerm but initially it's the dealer that can call lots of shots. My .02 from experience

no problem,no one is living in front of me right now,the landlord is from Detoit. We can plug in there. If no one know, then no one cares!

I'm working for a Buick, Pontiac, GMC store in NE Oh. Hope to be there tomorrow as well. :boxing_smiley:

Th one with the little blonde chick doing tv commercials?? with the irritating squeaky voice that needs something stuffed in her mouth to shut her up??

Obviously the government is screwing up the entire mess. by not following the bankruptcy law as it applies.

Question for you Ford guys.

Will Ford get concessions from the Union which match those which Chrysler and GM will end up with if they are greater than what Ford negotiated?

Very cool!! I am glad things are going well for ya!!! The whole pressure thing Ford did to the dealers on the the whole "Ford 2000" program was a sham. In reality that is what did in Duthler Ford here in GR. Spent toooo much money and never could sell enough to cover costs. Now with Fox owning it we just did a "facelift" that cost 3 million. We do sell a fare amount of cars and are doing well. It just amazes me the capital that our owner has. Right now this IS the best place to be in GR.

In order to be competitive they will have to.

That is what has me concerned also. If the UAW basically owns 55% of the new Chrysler, why should they give breaks to Ford or GM in an effort to make them more profitable? But since the government is now so pro-union I guess no one thought of that.
