Tavares Fall Thunder Regatta

November 14-16, 2014

The past will come alive as vintage and classic race boats of bygone eras return to Wooton Park in Tavares, Florida for our next annual Tavares Fall Thunder Regatta. Tavares is now a major stop on the CRA Florida Vintage Race Boat Circuit, and this Fall's regatta expands to 3 full days, with over 60 beautifully restored vintage and classic race boats running demonstration laps on a 1 mile oval course on beautiful Lake Dora. In addition to seeing and hearing these beautiful vintage boats run, spectators can also view them close-up in the pit area at Wooton Park on both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday & Sunday - vintage heats all day long !!!

We will be running vintage heats all day long on our one mile course, moved a bit this year to provide better spectator viewing from the Wooton Park grandstands. There will be a large contingent of vintage outboard racers, along with the many classes of vintage inboard runabouts, hydroplanes and Gold Cup race boats. One huge 90 ton crane and two tractors will be in the hot pit area to handle the vintage and classic race boats, which must be launched and retrieved for each heat. The constant launching and retrieving of vintage race boats high up in the air by the crane provides for stunning visuals, and we already have several fire breathing grand prix hydroplanes registered. The sights and sounds at Wooton Park will be just magnificent, don't miss this exciting event.

Jeff Hall & I are going to the fall thunder in November we had a great time @ the spring event. We have always gone to Key West for the worlds but it's time for a change, & the cost is much less @ Lake Dora, & no Carbonell tax.:ack2:

From Rich:

Once again OFF will be partnering with CRA's Fall thunder. Gerri Prusko and Bill John have requested a head count of attendees for this year's event. We expect it to be bigger than ever, but last year they accomodated a bunch of OFF folks at the last minute and this was a bit of a problem in planning their social events. Please......PLEASE.... make your reservations for the socials in advance by going onto www.classicraceboatassoc.com and signing up. Yes there are fees but this is for meals, drinks, etc....and also allows us to know who will be bringing boats for display and or running on the race course. Please be aware that this is an APBA sanctioned event and includes insurance, on site ambulances, and fire equipment....

The event opens with an OFF Golf outing on Nov 13th and the race boats are in the pits on the 14th....The flybys are scheduled for the 15th and 16th.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation. We look forward to a GREAT time!

Steve Sirois....Please forward this message via the OFF email addresses.

I think John would appreciate it if you left from Tavares to go visit him in Key West.....

I think John would appreciate it if you left from Tavares to go visit him in Key West.....
John still owes our Eastern Express team all the prize money from 1991 OPT tour, :ack2: I thinks I will appreciate it more if I stay away.:D

With interest, that should be a a big chunk of change. You should go for sure to pick up the check.....:)
