Who makes the best roller lifters? We are having problems getting the rollers to live, we are running high spring pressure. We are currently using Clowler with high pressure oiling. Thanks in advance.
 
That's an awful lot of pressure. What are the cam specs? 250 seat 600 open is usually good for solid rollers up to about .700 lift 260 duration.

What he said. Thats some serious spring pressure. Cant see that working real well for a marine application. I can see why your going thru lifters.
 
I agree that is a lot of spring pressure, but we were dropping intake valves like they ere going out of style till we ran the pressure up to where it is. Now we are breaking lifters. The cam people tell me the cam and take it with no problem, in fact they tell me the cam will like it. I just need a set of lifters that can take the pressure, and we should be good to go for a while.
 
If you whant things to hold up you should call Bob RMbuilder. He can set you up with a matched setup that will work well together.
 
that is an awful lot of pressure, for 6500 rpm,,,i would make the cam people who said it was ok,,, provide the lifters , so it will fall back on them!! we have an aluminum big block roller motor , that turns 9200 ,,and no where near that spring pressure,,put the problem back on the cam people,let them tell you what,,,other wise you will keep eating it,!!
 
Warren I run 200#s on the seat but I use a titainium intake. You should not need more than 240#s on the seat. I would look into the cam profile. I spent some time on a spintron machine and your profile might have a bad harmonic going on at that rpm or your pushrods could be flexing.
 
Thanks Tyler, I just sent a cam to a friend of mine in NJ. that is going to check for just that. I really dont think the push rods are flexing, because they are 7/16 push rods, but I guess anything is possible.

It might be that the cam profile is too severe for an endurance engine. A drag race engine only has to run for a couple of hours total between rebuilds. I was really surprised at how soft the ramps were on the cam that RM speced for me.
