Port Huron International Offshore Race 2014

Lap 4 stayed the same, with Simmons taking a slight lead.

Erie Monster was still driving hard to get back in the mix.

Lap 5, Crockett got the lead back. I chatted with Jim and Bob after and they said something went south on one engine and it wouldn't go over 4200 RPM. It stayed about the same but guess what, another ship came through and the race was called early with 2 laps to go.

Dang.....

Class 6 was shaping up to be an interesting race. There were 10 boats in the class, and the Canadian side of the first corner is about 10 boats wide. The rules in OPA are you have to hold your lane through the entire first corner, so there was quite a bit of chatter around the pits and spectators as to what would happen.

Coming up to the corner on the American side.

And then the mishap. Everyone got through okay except Boom Shaka Laka.

There is a much better sequence earlier in this thread from Adam than the two pics I happened to catch.

Class 6 was won by Repeat Offender, Smith Brothers second, and Maxed Out third. Although they finished seventh, Boom Shaka Laka stays in first place for the season, but only by one point. It's a very tight race which may not be decided until the very last race in the Solomons.

And then, with a lap or so to go, this cancelled the rest of the race. They stayed out for quite awhile thinking they could get a restart and finish, but no such luck...

After the ship went through, the last race of the day had 3 Supercats. Amsoil, Broadco, and Cleveland Construction answered the start for the class.

It also had one Class 2 boat, the Batboat

One Extreme boat, Cat Can Do

And 2 Class 3 boats, Wazzup and Miss PTM

Broadco had the first lap lead, but Amsoil hooked up really well and passed them to take the lead on lap 2.
