Report from the event........well as most people have heard the three O'Clock group was canceled so the CBPBA team did not have to jump. Have to admit was a little bummed because I was really excited to do it for a great cause. The weather was really bad out there and after Blair, Colleen and I walked out to the water we could see why. You could not see 15 feet out into the water and the wind was blowing a steady 15 to 20 mph so it was super nasty. The organizers decided not to have the event due to safety concerns. We all still hung out, drank some beer, and had a awesome time. Thanks to Jimmy and the whole family for doing such a great job after going yesterday you could see how much work it took and the weather did not help. Thanks to Mark Graham who help Jimmy set everything up starting on Thursday. Now its time for the real information THE MONEY!!!!!

The team's goal was $10,000.00 for the event.

To date we raised $9,305.00 with more coming in this week that will put us over our goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone that donated time or money to the event I heard they were just shy of 3 Million Dollars for this years event!!!!!!!!!!!

Again thanks Jimmy and team job well done!!!!!!!

Thanks to all our friends at Serious Offshore that donated to our team!!!!!! It was a great event for a great cause and cannot wait until next year!!!!

Ted didnt want to get his straw hat wet ???!!!!!!!!!

As you can see from the second set of Mark's pics, I was wearing my Hughie mask

Thanks to all who donated to this great cause, the totals now do not include a very generous donation from Alec, and we will surely go over our club goal. Obviously safety is a major concern and they called the second Plunge due to the conditions, it was brutal. Once again Serious came through in a major way for a good cause, thanks so much.

How cold was the water? I've gone water-skiing in low 40'ish degree water and it was enough to take your breath away jumping in, never been out early enough to get snowed on. Sleeted on once, never snow tho...

How cold was the water?

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- It was too cold even for some polar bears on Saturday.

The second of two scheduled dips in the water at the 14th annual Polar Bear Plunge in Annapolis, Md. was canceled on doctors' orders.

The air temperature was 23 degrees and the Chesapeake Bay was 36 degrees when crowds took a dip in the water around 1 p.m. Among the participants was Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco. He says the frigid water "took my breath away."

Organizers estimated that as many as 15,000 people got in the water in the event, which raises money for the Maryland Special Olympics.

Several people had to be treated for hypothermia after the first plunge and doctors monitoring the event advised organizers to cancel the second plunge.

Procrastination won...

It does take your breath away but what I found more disconcerting when we did it last year was that the circulation to my legs stopped almost immediately. So they numb up like they fell asleep and it makes it very hard to walk. I knew if I tripped and fell I would probably get trampled by all the others rushing to get out:ack2: Oddly enough though once in there the numbness keeps you from feeling the cold, it is amazing how fast the body reacts to extremes like that.

Well there is no reason to have people getting hurt, thats for sure.

Valiant effort. Mission Accomplished Again:USA:
