I SOOOOO know how you feel.....well sort-of. Yours was planned (which sucks) but you had time to "prepare". Mine was an un-expected shock. Not sure which is "worse" but they both SUCK!!!
Surprised to see this thread still going, figured a bunch of "A" personalities wouldn't soften up over a cat. Glad to see people still care about others. This is the first pet I've buried, I'm certainly going to be even MORE compassionate when others loose a pet!!!
Thanks guys,
"A" personalities are only rough with other "A" personalities. Anything else is not a challenge, and not worth the effort.:willy_nilly:
I had to deal with watching my guy go, day-by-day. I was doing everything I could to nurse him. He finally reached a point when carrying him down the steps into the backyard wasn't enough, and he couldn't even walk in the yard himself anymore. He was falling over on himself.
It was a Saturday, and I just couldn't take it anymore. He had the look on his face that said "Dad, this isn't fun anymore".
My wife made a call to the vet, and we were there with him in 15 minutes. 30 minutes it's was over.
One of the hardest things I've had to do, and I'll never forget the day, or him. Still have his ashes, and collar - may sound stupid, but I pet them often even now, and I hope it's true that when you die, you get your pets back. I miss him.
Pets are a huge part of your life.
I love the two mutts I have now more than anyone I've met in the past 5 years.
