Pet just died.......

I SOOOOO know how you feel.....well sort-of. Yours was planned (which sucks) but you had time to "prepare". Mine was an un-expected shock. Not sure which is "worse" but they both SUCK!!!

Surprised to see this thread still going, figured a bunch of "A" personalities wouldn't soften up over a cat. Glad to see people still care about others. This is the first pet I've buried, I'm certainly going to be even MORE compassionate when others loose a pet!!!

Thanks guys,

"A" personalities are only rough with other "A" personalities. Anything else is not a challenge, and not worth the effort.:willy_nilly:

I had to deal with watching my guy go, day-by-day. I was doing everything I could to nurse him. He finally reached a point when carrying him down the steps into the backyard wasn't enough, and he couldn't even walk in the yard himself anymore. He was falling over on himself.
It was a Saturday, and I just couldn't take it anymore. He had the look on his face that said "Dad, this isn't fun anymore".
My wife made a call to the vet, and we were there with him in 15 minutes. 30 minutes it's was over.
One of the hardest things I've had to do, and I'll never forget the day, or him. Still have his ashes, and collar - may sound stupid, but I pet them often even now, and I hope it's true that when you die, you get your pets back. I miss him.
Pets are a huge part of your life.
I love the two mutts I have now more than anyone I've met in the past 5 years.

They don't leave U 4 another dog, they don't have a mid-life crisis & bail on U!! The unconditional tail wag'n every X U walk in the door & the smile U know is on their face is priceless!!:seeya:

Tracy, anyone that takes a pic of his dog wearing a thong on his head and uses it as his av...
Well, it tells me the dog loves you enough to put a thong on his head.
So, if he's willing to put up with that, you must treat him pretty good.
When I went through my divorce, I left with my boat, my truck, and my dog, and nothing else beside my clothes.
I kept the dog the longest, and if I could have any of those three things back, it would be Riley (my dog).

t500 - Some of us are re-living our sorrow for a lost pet now that you bring it up, but you never forget family members.

We had a yellow lab pass away in august after she went in for a routine surgery. Breaks my heart every time I think about it. We got to celebrate one of our dogs 7th birthday today, one year ago today she had her whole butt shaved and had just come home from a major surgery and one month stay at the emergency vet.

It sucks to lose a pet, but they sure do leave you with some great memories.

I never had kids either, and my dogs have gotten me through some rough times. Whenever I felt like just giving up, I'd think about my babies depending on me taking care of them.

Your cat's name is Nutsack?:rofl::rofl:That tickels me for some reason.

I just call him that because he's such a goofball. :)

His name is Cheeseburger-- I call him Cheese for short. :sifone: When I rescued him off the streets in Ft Myers a few years back he was covered with grease and oil, so it seemed appropriate.

:cheers2:

My last bulldog died of Parvo at 17 weeks. It broke my heart, and I swore I'd never have another pet. It wasn't a month later that I got Bandit. That was 11 years ago.

Yup Tim, I agree. My last dogs ashes are on the fireplace mantle with her collar around the urn. I know she's waiting patiently for me to come home......

My golden Molly just turned 8 in December. My son is 16 so to him this dog has been around as long as he can remember. They are inseparable. As much as it will hurt me when she goes it will also really hurt to know the pain my son will be going through with her passing. Not looking forward to that day. Every day when I come home from work I see her through our dining room picture window as she sits patiently awaiting my arrival home.

sorry to hear about your family's loss. Cat's are as much a part of the family as dogs, they can give you hours of amusement because of the silly things they often do. Ian had a cat when we met, she was a sweet girl and died just before turning 20. The pictures of your cat with your boys are priceless, I can't believe she would lay there like that while they slept on top of her.

My boys (and girl) the other day.

It's actually a boy, Bam Bam, we got a girl at the same time, Pebbles. (Flintstones). My boys are 8, 11, 13 so the cats have been here since before the kids were born. The one that's still alive is more of a loaner but Bam Bam would stick to them like any dog/puppy. He would find my oldest when he was ready for bed and "beg" him to go to bed. Usually the cat would climb into bed and work himself into the kids arms while they were sleeping. When the kids were 2-3 yrs old they would pick him up by the tail and follow hm as he walked with his front legs only. When they finally turned his tail loose he would just sit there ready for more attention. The youngest would bear hug the cat with nothing but the rear legs and tail sticking up from around his arms.....the rest of his body vitually dragged along as he walked.....Bam Bam still wouldn't even leave once they turned him loose.
