Opinion wanted

I'm good with a Fri. get into town simple get together someplace as people make it into town, and then a Sat. evening official get-together.
Leave Sunday for the side trip to Havasu for those that want to and can make it.

Talk to me about the side trip Paul.

I've got a friend who lives in Havasu. Maybe I should fly out for Desert Storm, ride on every members boat, drive up to Vegas, drink in every bar, and come back with a plan:sifone:

Think I could write it off?

Could get rooms at the Nautical for one night outside of the tourist season I think. Drive back to Vegas Monday.

Late January sounds perfect. No real conflicts with anything significant in the industry and it's pre-boatshow-season.

Sounds like we're getting somewhere here.
I'll probably make the run to Havasu in my truck, and then just head home on Monday.

What do we want at this event?
Friday a Casino meet as everyone gets into town?
Saturday, a meeting room for a dinner?
Work with a Casino to set up a Poker-Run through the slot machines, and pick up a card after you find each of the selected slot machines - maybe a dollar machine, and you have to pull the handle at least once at every card stop?? A casino would love to hear that we're going to have a bunch of people running from one slot to another...
Damn - I like that idea...

I doubt that my cousin the chef has much juice. I think that Wynns employs a bunch of chefs.
We may be back to the question of where... since when kind of fell into place... (it seems.)

I don't think that there are such things as "loose cards" in a casino, Tim. :D
But I like the way you are thinking group sales.

It seems to me the dates are now locked for the weekend of the 23rd.
We just need to settle on the time period there, and what we want to take place on which days.
I can start putting something together tomorrow as far as a proposed plan of events that we can discuss and fine-tune.

I don't need to be on the strip. Strip view is cool tool. You can valet a rental car free at the hotels. (Last time I went, anyway) and you can always split cabs. Either way.
I like suites. Just saying....

;)

I'm thinking that if we're using cards that are 5x7" or larger (like at a Poker Run), and arrange it with the casino beforehand, we only have to worry that MarylandMark is going to try to slide one out of his sleeve at a Poker table:26:

Let's get some hotel ideas flying around.

I have nothing to offer in suggestions in this department, having never been there.
I have no problem trying to contact, and set something up for group rates/discounts, but I need suggestions of a place that will take our motley bunch, and that will suit us best.

Believe it or not, (I found it hard), we were there over Thanksgiving and the Bellagio had rooms for less than $100 per night. The town has died so bad everyone is giving stuff away. Bellagio is the second highest cost hotel in town.

Monte Carlo is always reasonable because it's at the end of the strip.

I have to believe the new Hard Rock is real cheap because it's barely off the strip and expanded just recently.

I guess, what do people want to pay? I think they're all fairly reasonable.

Alright, I just went back and read the opening post in this thread:

Lets say one day that the organizers /managers of this board decided to have a convention. A 2-3 day event where sponsors could show off their products and everyone on here could meet one another...say some safety seminars, some driving seminars , tech stuff etc. etc.

A big dinner blah blah blah where some members could show off their sheep.

Where would all of you think the most central location in the USA would be taking in consideration where all the members live.

Is it NYC , is it Miami , is it Atlanta ?

Are we turning it into just a party? Is that what we really want?
Or do we want to set up a convention room for vendors to bring a small display and set-up to drum up biz/create relationships with the members of the board? - but in a non-sales setting, more of a "we're all here to have a good time, but I'm going to show you product/bust your ballz/have a drink in my hand while I do it" kind of thing.
I think that would be a lot more comfortable for all.
The vendors are already going to be feeling the upcoming pressure to make sales in Miami.
If they have a chance to make some contacts and party with some of the people at this event that will also be going to Miami, they have a better chance of making sales to them in Vegas.
I see it as a better and more relaxed way of introducing vendors and consumers.
Sounds like a win-win to me.
