Officially unemployed.

Good luck Tim......Take good care of the pantera......I guess when i make it down for a dozen beers i am going to have to drive further now.....lol

Tim, hope the trip is going well! What's your play list been so far for music? I think I would have to just put my ipod on random and go.

Most of what you're seeing is recapped tires that let go from the heat. Run'n hard, heat'n up a recap that may have a casing on it's third go around will shread'm. If your tires are good and they're not over loaded, you're good to go. Keep the speed down and the tires won't heat up too bad. Check your hubs for heat too.

Yep, and re-caps can only be used on non-sterring axles.

As far as my rig, trailer has brand new tires, all new bearings, and new lights. I wasn't going to chance it.

Glad to hear the trip is go'n good. I'm asuming your go'n across to Flagstaff and down. Gallop, NM will be about 575 miles. Not much after that untill Flagstaff (750 miles)
Take it easy down I-17. Pretty much down hill from Black Mountain into Phoenix. Pretty good grade at times.

Actually not going all the way to Flagstaff, taking some po-dunk road down to the 101, and then over to Tempe.

Morning Buoy, have a good day......:)

It was the best day of the trip.

Thanks Mike, you'll have to make it out to Desert Thunder. It's in about two weeks, not sure if I'll make it this year - too much going on, but definately next year.

I don't have an ipod, but I burned a bunch of CD's that are about the same as hitting "random".
You can go from Iron Maiden to Stevie Wonder, to Matreial Issue, to Gordon Lightfoot...
I've also been in a Rush mood lately, so I picked their first two records on CD for the third time on Fri before we left.

Update!

Left Elk City OK this morning around 8:00 (35 degrees).
Ran across the TX panhandle, and straight across NM.
Stopped for lunch at Clines Corner on Rt 66.
NM was incredible to drive through, absolutely beautiful country.
Crossed into AZ and ran about 100 mi before stopping in Holbrook around 5:30 (we made up two hours in time zones, so we actually ran about 11 hours)(75 degrees).
We've got ~180 miles to go to get to the doublewide, so we could have easily made it, but all our stuff is still in a truck on it's way here, so no point going there until tomorrow, and just caught a room for the night.
Truck and trailer have handled wonderfully even running at the 75-80 range (75 is the limit out here). Just do a full walk-around vehicle inspect everytime you stop to fuel or pee. Check tires, bearings are still full packed, boat hasn't shifted, lugs look good, safety chains, winch cable/tie downs, check coupler...
As much as I was worried, or at least "not looking forward" to the drive...
After today, I'd do it again with out even thinking twice.
There is some incredible country out here that is just breathtaking. Everyone should make the drive at least once. I was amazed at some of the landscape, and some of the wild critters I saw in the desert. Wolves, Antelope, Elk, Wild Turkey (not the kind in the bottle).
Very cool trip.
Wrap it up tomorrow.
I have tons of pics, but I'm sure they do no justice of what it is to actually see it in front of you.
I'l post them up sometime after I'm settled in at the Doublewide.

I have drunk so many bottles of water over the past few days while driving, it would have been cheaper to buy beer - well, probably not in the big picture.

Tim, are you go'n down 77/60 through the reservation? Eagle pass is really cool. Lots of photo ops. Lots of views across the canyon of where you just came from. If you're not go'n that way, it's well worth the ride some afternoon once you're setted in.

couldn't agree more about NM, absolutely the most amazing scenery the whole drive. I don't remember if it was NM or Texas, but at one point on the 40, for about 40 miles there are huge wind turbines all across the country side. pretty crazy sights to see some of that stuff. the drive through the mountains into Albuquerque is also pretty sweet. good luck on the last part of your drive!

Well, we made it !
About 200 miles today. I'm damn glad we stopped when we did last night. Only 3 hours from the doublewide, but glad I got some rest to make the drive today.
We rolled THROUGH the Superstion mountains, I mean up and down and winding through. Another beautiful day, lots of pics, but they can't possibly do justice to actually being here.
Just drop the truck down to 2nd gear rolling down those big hills with the boat pushing me (no trailer brakes) and we were fine.
Again, what beautiful country. Headed down the 260 to 87, incredible ride.
JJ did good in picking out the new doublewide, I have a huge cactus in the front yard, and palm trees in the back.
Already have the boat parked in the back yard, and I'm sitting out under the veranda in shorts drinking beers.
The dogs are digging it too.
Good news, the Van driver called a few hours ago, and he's already here and ready to drop off our "stuff" at 8:00 am tomorow.
I understand why people come here and never leave, I may be eating my words come July/August.

Thanks!

But,
IT's A PANTERA NATION:sifone:

Looks nice. I am a big fan of the low maintanence yard. ;) I am tired of cutting 3 acres.

Yeah, I need to sell a lawn mower, two snow shovels, and two windshield scrapers. May even have a bag of rock salt that needs to go.

looks awesome! glad you made it safe!

Thanks - what a great trip.
This was one I'll never forget.
And I'm still sitting outside in shorts drinking beer.
Almost feels like I'm on vacation.
Can't wait to get all my stuff here tomorrow.
A TV would be nice tonight.

Thanks!

How cool is that. Looks good.

Welcome to the West brother! I'll be heading out to Palm Desert on Thursday for a little vacation time. Glad you made it safe and sound. Does "Hot Stuff" seem happy to be back in the land of no layups? :D

you have to keep one snow shovel in the bar area ! it will remind you why you moved ! looks great, you can never go wrong with palm trees !:sifone:
