Talking to the racers, they are a bit concerned too. They ran that direction way back when, but the laps were a lot longer and fewer of them. Coming down the back stretch into the harbor turn, they will be going at their top speed and have to slow a lot more for the tight harbor turn. Currently the dogleg by the mole, and the cruise ship hole in the water, slows them some before the harbor turn.
The throttle men that have been part of Key West for years could probably do their job blindfolded. I’m sure it will screw them up. But might make for some interesting racing.
