In my experience, if you make it in the yard... you shouldn't ask for it back. If you make it in the house, you will not HAVE to ask for it back. It will be returned to you at the conclusion of the claim.
I don't chase balls into yards. I expect people who live next to golf courses to tolerate a lot, but I respect their property too. Two way street. I golf with azzholes and CEOs, so I have had a lot of conversations with people who live next to golf courses. I had to explain to more than one poor new home owner while the other three guys hit that guys in charity golf scrambles were going to say "phuck." And that he would never have a truly satisfying experience living next to a golf course until he accepted this. Then I say to my foursome "How many of you guys live on a golf course?" and they all raise their hand. I told him when drunk golfers say "phuck," Make A Wish kids get wishes. Stop hating. Tell your kids they can't use that word until they pay $500 for a round of golf and spend $500 at the silent auction.
Then I say "Have a good Saturday." And we speed off to the green. Smiling and waving.
We have boated in April with the Inmar Dingy and pushed ice around. The water temps and using a blow up boat makes you a little nervous. But after a couple of drinks you calm down.
