Once again OFF will be partnering with CRA's Fall thunder. Gerri Prusko and Bill John have requested a head count of attendees for this year's event. We expect it to be bigger than ever, but last year they accomodated a bunch of OFF folks at the last minute and this was a bit of a problem in planning their social events. Please......PLEASE.... make your reservations for the socials in advance by going onto www.classicraceboatassoc.com and signing up. Yes there are fees but this is for meals, drinks, etc....and also allows us to know who will be bringing boats for display and or running on the race course. Please be aware that this is an APBA sanctioned event and includes insurance, on site ambulances, and fire equipment....

Thanks in advance for your cooperation. We look forward to a GREAT time!

Steve Sirois....Please forward this message via the OFF email addresses.

The event is from Nov=13th thru the 16th (Nov 13th is the golf outing)....There are race boat flybys on the 15th and 16th.

That's the plan............ Both of them will be there, plus a third one from Canada....

Wow, I wonder when the last time three wings were together at one time was????

We've had all three in the same pits, but never on a course together...Come watch us make history.

I talked to John Bakos yesterday and Odell Lewis today. Both will be at OFF2014, 13-16 Nov in Tavares FL. - Steve Sirois

In the Merc ad it shows John and O'Dell, did they win the Mississippi Marathon when it used to run or was it just they were in a boat similar to the winner?

That had to be one heck of a crazy race........

I know they won the Around Long Island marathon in the famous "Fast Will Last" boat.....not sure, but I think the Mississippi race was before the Merc 1000's came out. I believe both men ran that race in separate Powecats with Merc 800's.

Is that race something that could even be run in today's world? 20 boats racing up the Mississippi for over 1000 miles? The stories are cool to read.....

You cant race like we used to....but you can put a pair of 1700 hp gas engines or bigger hp turbines in a 45-50 foot hull made of ultralightium and drive over your head in front of spectators at a "non race event".

Ahhhh, there appears to be a bit of truth in that statement......

I know of some insurance policies which have the exclusion for participating in any organized event now, not just a race exclusion or poker run exclusion. So it excludes any fun run etc with the new wording.
