We enjoyed it, but were a little surprised at the lack of participation. In one contest, we sent out two prize packages worth over $3,000 combined and had just a handful of entries. On POTW, we were sending the prizes to a rotating group of 6 or 7 people.

We'd love to do more contests.

I'm thinking since the site traffic really seems to be starting to climb recently you ought to consider revisiting it this fall/winter after boating season calms down.

Would making it a monthly contest generate more fodder and involvement?

With any event, only a percentage of the masses are going to participate. I think as the member list grows, you're going to see more participation. I don't know if a month would work. If it takes too long to see results, people may lose interest. Maybe bi-weekly.

We ran the last one as a monthly contest (actually held it open for 6 weeks because there were only 5 nominations at the end of the month), and had a total of 11 nominations and only 30 voters.
