"If there was any one boat that literally blew everybody's minds at Key West, it had to be the drab grey diesel powered 29' Buzzi cat Grey Iveco, the only entry from Italy, that cousins Emilio and Marco Riganti drove to victory in the combined APBA Modified catamaran and UIM Class II classes.

Designed and built by Italy's innovative Fabio Buzzi, the little boat simply blew the doors off the fables gasoline powered boats using two 360 c.I., 450 hp turbocharged Iveco/Fiat engines which had already run 10 other races!"

Hi unfortunately we do not have any slides in the NNRT collection I bought of your 24 Skater or 21 Superboat. When I bought the 1300 slides from Phil he did say that these where all that they saved. There must have been more cause I have seen photos with the NNRT logo that I do not have slides for, I wish they saved them all.

By the way we live very close to each other in NJ.

The last time I chatted with Phil he said his brother had thousands of slides that Phil had tossed out, he only kept what he thought were the best. That is what Chris now has and is digitizing.

Sorry everyone, there were thousands and thousands - just too many to go thru - after 20 years, and over 241 events, We would shoot hundreds at each event, and only save a few that were unique or good !

There is only one reference to Wild Turkey in Searace. In the 1979 Lombardo-Halter Classic, Frank Lach's 35' Cigarette Wild Turkey with twin 400 hp Mercruiser engines, took first place overall in Production boat.

Along that line, the first reference to What-A-Package in Searace goes this way, "In the 160 mile New Jersey Offshore Grand Prix off Point Pleasant, New Jersey on July 11, 1984....... Robert Weinstein's 30' Chris Cat Smokey And The Bandit took over (first place), defeating Dominick Palombi's What-A-Package by seven seconds".

Funny thing about that is we didn't actually win. This was my first race ever and it was really foggy. The entire P class fleet, except for us and What-A-Package, got lost at the BA buoy. We had them beat by way more than 7 seconds but about a half mile from the finish the left side came out of gear. It ended up being a stupid cotter pin. We had to limp in for third.

The reason everyone thought we won was that because of the fog nobody really knew how many laps were completed or still needed to be run. We, along with everyone else, thought we finished, but when What-A-Package kept running we decided to stick with him and run what we thought was an extra lap. It turns out that the "extra" lap was the actual last lap.

That's racing!

Well, that's not the only error in Searace, but it is really interesting to know........
