Miami Boat Show and Your Business

I was talking with Jeff from Freeze Frame Video this morning and we were talking about all the effort and work that he and his dear wife Eve put towards the Miami Show. The advance organization as well as the 12 hour days that go into doing a show are very tiring.

It made me think about how many people around here earn their living from our hobby. From the manufacturers, the engine builders and the hundreds and hundreds of ancillary products and services, this industry is the support structure for a whole lot of families.

While a bunch of us worry about the upcoming bar tabs and what parties we will be sure to attend there are many many more that are putting all their efforts toward putting their best foot forward at MIAMI.

With all the negativity we have been surrounded with recently it isnt surprising that some of those that earn their paycheck through the results of their attendance at Miami have all got their fingers crossed.

Given that the Miami Boat Show is the barometer that will tell us how our next season will turn out I'm sure that those that are about to go and WORK the show are both excited and apprehensive.

SO, ON BEHALF OF ALL THE SOS MEMBERS AS WELL AS THE MANAGEMENT OF SOS WE WISH YOU ALL THE BEST ECONOMIC SUCCESS AT MIAMI AND 2010

And we thank you all for your efforts that make this hobby such a great part of our lives.

Cat,

Great post. And THANK YOU!!!!
We look forward to this show as you stated as a marker to what the upcoming year will hold.
Once again, we will be exhibiting with Sunsation and looking to make deals and move product.
You are absolutely correct that there are countless hours in organizing and working the shows.

Thanks again for noticing. I would like to also thank all of the other vendors with their efforts on being there as well.

Miami, to me, is the the Superbowl in the boat business. Especially in the Perf boat world. Ft. Lauderdale is a close second. I really miss working the Miami show. I've had some of tehe best times of my life there. And I've gotten to know several "legends" because of that show.

As hard as that show is on you (6 days of NO sleep partying all night and talking to literally thousands of people all day) it doesnt get much better than leaving with a few million dollars worth of business and also being able to say you just had a blast with your friends.

Good luck guys. See you there.

and for the people who do attend try to take advantage of the "BOAT SHOW SPECIALS" that will also help those who do try to make their living thru the marine industry !!

Probably not the best year to start our debut at the show, But AOCOOLERS will be at the Miami show for the first time. We will be in the Deep Blue Marine booth # 2136. Haven't met most of you, so come by and say hi and check out our coolers for your boat..

It really is an obsene amount of work to be in the Miami show. I did it a few years ago. We literally spent months getting everything together for the show. Loaded up and drove all night to get there. It cost over 10K to be in the boat show, not to mention the lost revenue by not working for all of the time it took to get ready for the show and actually being there. I had to sell something just to break even. It was a terribly long week....but worth it all in the end. I am seriously considering next year. This year was just to much....not enough time or money to do it.(one is a good thing, one is not:sifone:)
Good luck to everyone else. I hope to see you there.
