Mark McGwire Admits To Using Steroids

I could give a flyin' phuck. They WERE NOT against the rules then. Anyone wanna pay me $25MM to hit a ball? I'll break out a needle faster than you can say huh.

Who cares? It was thrilling watching him rip that ball out of the ballpark.

People should enjoy the show and maybe concern themselves with something a little more important. Like the idiots and thieves they vote into public office. Can you imagine if we took half the interest and brain power people expend watching, thinking about and discussing sports and put it towards running our cictes, states and country?

Amen brother... Or boats. :cheers2:

INMO you can't keep McGuire, Bonds, Clemens, etc out of the hall. Peformance enhancing drugs...yes they were, but like every other "record" the times will dictate the basis for the debate. Was Mcguire better than Maris? Was Bonds better than Ruth? Who knows, but the steriod part of it will always be part of the debate and the hall can't erase history...how can they really ever separate those who admitted to it from those who got away with it? Time to move on....Yankees still suck.

I guess it's ok for some famous rich sports figures to lie in front of our joke of a government without ramifications but if some ordinary schmuck does it they'll get a trip to the slammer for perjury. F him and his ilk.

It was a different time. 50 years ago the average spectator was thrilled with the displays of skill and athleticism. Today that's not nearly enough. You need something bigger and better every year. The purists in the fan base are all but dead. But it's up to the individual. For me, I can enjoy what McGuire does (did) but I always remember that Mantle did it on scotch, hot dogs and broads.

And when a fastball was 85 mph, a glove was less hightech and cleats were less advanced.

Also remember they played mostly day games, a lot of doubleheaders, traveled on trains not charter planes and a lot of them had to get jobs in the off season.
Mcguire is a whiner.
