Looking for a 39 Cig

Alright I have finally decided to start actively asking people about boats for sale I feel that prices this winter and next spring are going to be real good so I am going to buy a boat but probably not until March or April unless the deal is just to great to pass up. I will say this will be my first boat of this caliber and I will be taking tres's class and learning how to operate it properly.

So anyway I am looking for the best deal out there I would like opinions on the different motors and options in these boats. It will mainly if not always be used for day trips and I do have a wife so some type of toilet is required.

This is the nicest used 39 out there...

Relative to the 39's there is really only 1 way to go power wise: 700 SCi's / NXT Drives; options wise they are all pretty much loaded, differences may be the amount of billet stuff and electronics; they all have at least a porta potty in the cabin (that's all you'll need).

If you want a new one: http://www.lipshipperformance.com/ or www.pier57.com

You should also check out the 39 thread in the Cig Forum:

I love that one with 1075's the other one did not look bad either. what do you think about the one I metioned above besides it is kinda ugly (my opinion). Would it seem theat by the time it was painted and the interior changed it would not be worth it or what. Even just painted blue would not be that bad on the interior if the outside did not have those graphics.

Price is right but you're looking at least $50k to repaint it right and would have to work the blue interior into the scheme. That red/silver 1075 boat is awful nice though, and loaded. I don't think the 850 and 1075 are fully staggered like the 700's. I'v been told the 700 boats handle better.

The blue one is a lot nicer in person than the pictures show. I have been on that boat and it is super nice. Well maintained.

Correct...Check the pics you can see the difference in staggered.

I am trying to remember the Thriller boat. I seem to recall it being very close to a full if not a full stagger.

No, Tommy's are side-by-side.

I saw Tommy's GPS tattle-tale- a nice clip over 100 with 700's/NXT's. I guess you have to ask yourself- how fast do you really want to spend? 1075's are twice the price and have less than half the lifespan. The 6 drive adds alot of weight and staggereds are a PITA around the docks. How often will you be out by yourself and want to push 125? Is an infrequent blast 15 MPH faster worth all that?

It is a great time to be a buyer. What region are you in? (Curious about when your season starts.)

Mine is a full stagger. I believe that all 39's are staggered; that's the difference between a 39 and a 38. It's just the 850's and 1075's that can't be fully staggered due to size. And yes they can be a handful to dock in the wind.

As you can see, the 700's can run pretty good and they are a great match with the 39. If I was to go with bigger power it would be in a bigger boat; 850's in a 42X or 1075's in a 46. Tom's 1075/46 runs over 120.

Fund I am in Illinois

So more questions on the 850 boat that I posted. It says it has 110 hours are the motors ready for a top end/complete rebuild or at what time would all that need to be done.

Yes I think 1075's are to much. that boat is awesome but for the price I could have the one with 850's painted and new interior and a brand new international to pull it. I do like the idea of 700's they look much simpler and easier to work on probably better balanced because of the full stagger and less weight but I have not yet seen the price on a 700/nxt boat. I guess I just need to start calling some dealers and find out what they cost.

If you get any bigger then 700's go with the 1075's. If you get an 850 you'll wish you had the 1075. The 700 is a great motor if you're not looking at spending much money on maintence.
