I'm gonna go out on a limb a bit here and say that I don't think the housing/foreclosure crisis is entirely the fault of personal fiscal irresponsibility. Sure, the media over the last couple of years blew up the "subprime crisis" which in reality was only about $30 Billion in NOTIONAL value; and on top of that "subprime" wasn't defaulting much more than top tier credit. Then there are the folks that signed up for teasers and also "investors" that thought they could flip before things got too expensive. So we got the "ARM/Alt-A" crisis. I think what people are failing to realize is that the economy has been in the toilet for a lot longer than anybody wants to admit. Between people living paycheck to paycheck BEFORE all these crises and the meteoric rise in energy last year, "homeowners" that had good intentions and abilities were turned on their head.

Look at where the media hype has turned today. You don't hear about subprime mortgages; you don't hear about fraud and investors. You finally hear about Joe neighbor who lost his job and can't pay the mortgage.

I think that's brushing it a bit too broadly, remember, they're all elitists? There were plenty of us R's beetching for many of the last eight years. We were told to STFU, everything's fine. I remember a good friend of mine complaining about the harsh financial regulations we had, and that was back in 2006/2007. He said the bull market should last for many years.

I told him I was out, and in treasuries and cash. The only reason I had anything less is I didn't listen to those gubmint fools. It's not beetching and moaning when you're right, and it works. I always knew what would happen when the followers of Mr. personal responsibility found out the truth. I knew it wouldn't be pretty, and I knew it would be loud.

Hopefully 2010 will turn out better. Crap, I'm starting to miss Ross Perot.

yes it was the CONGRESS that was in for the last two years that doubled it...also it costs money to kill terrorists and keep amaerica safe, that im ok with, im not ok with people bailing out losers.
