I just can't do it all anymore.........

Thanks Buoy. :) I'll pass on your kind words to Chris. He was always like another son to me and I will say I'm as proud of him as an Uncle could ever be.

My boat is an '89 Scarab III. I bought it off of a friend of Glassdave's. I love the boat and have been doing a lot of work to it. It should be fine, just things keep happening to delay going out for another year. My Mother-In-Law's death was just an awful tragic accident and dealing with the emotions of the wife and children, and me, too, with all of the extra problems due to no will and her financial situation has just destroyed any of our free time this year (but I believe by fall there will be a light in that tunnel).

Like it's been said, I have a healthy family and that is everything. My nephew is in great health...though it has been thought that next year his unit will be re-deployed in Afghanistan.

Thanks again for the kind words.

I'm in the same, uh, boat.

I bought my Scarab III in early November 2007. Around Thanksgiving my wife notifies me that we're having another baby. So, that rules out boating Summer 2008.

Spring 2009 I'm getting ready again, but my nephew is WIA in Iraq so we make plans to visit him. One week after visiting him my Mother-In-Law is found dead in her home with no will and a huge mess to deal with. So, no boating in 2009.

What will stop me in 2010? It gets worse every year so I dread to think about.

In the end, though, I got a new son in 2008 and my nephew survived being wounded in Iraq. That boat doesn't mean crap compared to that.

I send you best wishes that everything will work out for you very soon.

I feel your pain, my dad passed about a year ago and kidded me about not having a running boat.
I always wanted him to ride in it.
Tell your nephew I said thank you for his service,I know it took alot of courage to do what he has done.
My oldest boy is in the Navy and getting ready for his first real deployment.
I am very proud of him, he really is a good son.
These boats are supposed to be fun, and 90% of the time they are.
To me , working on her gets me away from all the crap in the world and deaming about taking her out, is just a nice get away while I am stuck on the 91 freeway with a zillion other people.

All in all it is, just a boat.

Johnny, just remember when you send your care packages they love to receive two things in particular; beef jerkey and Chef Boyardee Ravioli. Chris constantly asked for more of that stuff so he could share (probably barter) with his fellow buddies. If they are on the ground they also like cigarettes because they can trade them to Iraqi's for information sometimes.

Tell your son thanks from me. My best friend was in the Navy during the first Gulf War.

Best wishes to you Johnny.
