I am new what is teh story w/ this site

You can't buy character. Discount or no.
But with it.... decisions like this one are so easy.

I wouldn't send Jon a check for 350 to buy back my character. I would send him 350, because I knew that I owed it to him. Forum or no. A man with character would "man up" if they were the last two on earth.

Fully agree, - Jon is extending the olive branch (which in this case I don't agree with), but, I find it admirable.
Taking half the debt - OK.
And, I'm trying to give credit that there may be more to this story.
BUT, Audio has not been afraid to show his face anywhere, Rick, not so much.
And showing up here with a smug attitude...

You wouldn't have to ask a man of charachter.

Thank you, Chris.
Thanks for inviting me to be here - If I have nothing else, at least I have character, and I'm glad that a few people around here know that.
These are the people I prefer to associate with.

Can we get back to whats up with this site?

Well... membership is up. Threads are up. New SOS apparel is up. A couple of contests. Some great people. And... obviously... perf boating is still a small world, where it's tough to blend in and escape past bad acts. In general... we don't have much of this kind of drama over here... but I guess it will occasionally happen.

Can we get back to whats up with this site?

Short story- after pleading with Internet Brands for several months to pay even the slightest bit of attention to their new purchase, about 50 of us regulars from OSO set out and started a site of our own. We put our heads together and looked back over our years on OSO and talked about what went right, what went wrong, what people liked and what they didn't. We threw it all in a big bowl and here we are. After we got it working, the original group of 50 Founders invited about 400 of our closest friends (Charters) to join us. We opened things up to general membership just after the Key West worlds last november.

ok I've looked at both sides and thought about it and I have drawn my own conclusion.
I see where Jon did the work and everyone was happy and had fun, Jon told them he would figure out the pricing at cost and let them know. that's what "friends" do. To the guy that said it was both fault for misunderstanding, I cant agree with that because Nort didnt misunderstand it and paid the full amount and everything is fine with Jon and Nort. I also know that Nort knows what it is like to have friends and to be a friend, that he wouldn't leave one hanging out there.
The fact that Jon offered to cut the price down to 350 shows that he is willing to accept a loss over the time and walk away. The fact that Rick only offered 200 after all this time shows that he doesn't know how to treat friends and probably doesn't have that many. I wouldn't accept 200 from him either, to me that is an insult, that's appeasement money. Jon has stayed on both sites ever since the incident and maintained his relationships with his boating friends and made more friends in the process. Rick disapeared. this is my summary.
My conclusion is Rick is a tool, and he deserves to be shunned by our community, if for one minute you think it is ok, to blow off someones work and friendship because you are too cheap to man up, then quite frankly, why would the rest of us want to associate with you. Honestly I wouldn't accept the 350 from you, in my book it's full payment or nothing. If you were in the same boating circles as me, you certainly wouldn't be welcome at any of our events, as you would probably drink and eat all day and then throw down a 20 and say bye. you are the weakest link and I for one could care less if you stay.

F'n pay up ...... geez .... how can this be such a big deal?? Obviously you either don't have the $$ or are just think fukkin people over is cool...... it's not.

Chit comes back around .... $700 would be cheap If I were a bettin man.

Karmma is a biatch..... it multiplies like the plague......

Here is another question that I think would belong in this thread? I have a brief history at OSO so I am unfamiliar with whats wrong over there. Other than JS undervaluing every boat for sale whats the beef with that site.

I have had 90% good experience with the individuals there. What turned you guys off?

For one thing, when they pulled OSO off of the dedicated server and stuck it on the same server that IB ran the rest of their 50 or 60 websites from, it was impossible to get pages to load- that is, when the site was working at all. Then they told us we all needed to switch to Firefox to see the site. Add in that the for tne most part stopped moderating anything- there's a laundry list... and the worst part, we begged them to fix these things and they flat out ignored us- not so much as a reply to numerous e-mails.

A year ago the site was full of hardcore boaters- a big bunch that hit the races and the poker runs- the serious players. Nowadays, I don't recognize many names when I pop over there. I'm sure there are some quality people- but where were they last year? We didn't pick up that many new boaters since last fall.

I would echo what Chris said, and add to the fact that when Steve sold it, and congrats to him for it. It went from a cozy place run by people that understood, the hobby. As he said "for the love of the sport" and it turned into the mega mall, I really cant or wont blame the mods, as they were left out in the dark as well. For me it was a maintenance issue, the fact that it was down more than up. I still go thereto see and participate, but only in a couple sections, I wont give them my money, and I will support the advertisers that have come here. I have gone to quite a few runs, and met many of them, although I am just a customer, they can put a face to it, and knowing that I use my boat, I will break things and continue to be a customer...the moral to this story was loyalty and I believe that the intent of this site is integrity.

Politics is a wonderful thing but not in this case.....IB didnt support the loyal people of OSO. Hell I took a 3 year hiatus to come back to the same old bullsit compiled with the lack of respect from the new command and finally the nonfuntionality of the sites different forums. At that point an invite from the leader was all it took......

if you made any sense you would have sent down your strippers to the boat show and showed your friends some love. But instead you were greedy and kept them to yourself.
