High X Dim.

I don't do rough water much. 3's to 4's are about it.
I just like to go fast in the 1 to 2 ft chop.
My wife hates rough water. ( You can hear her over the engines with the exhaust open and my exhaust runs almost dry )

When the boat was stock with the drives 2 inches lower than they are now - It had a hard time getting on plane with Mirage 25's.

I intend to replace the transom this winter. There are some hollow spots but the wood is not rotted. I used a drill from the inside and it came back as clean dry wood. I think the glass is coming loose from the wood.

I figured while the transom is out why not reglass and raise it some.
Sounds like I will go up 1 inch.

I have to have some other glass work done anyways. Holes from removing the arch, radar mounting holes in the dash. Old GPS mounting holes.
Dash under the windshield is wrinkling due to the sun cooking it.

I figured this winter I would make it look like new.

I am going to gut the engine compartment and clean it up, smooth off some of the roughness that Wellcraft thought was OK.

OH and I have to have the engine hatch fixed after I blew it over at 80 MPH.
Ripped the lift mount out. I can't believe it stayed on the boat.

Mobile - When I trim for max speed the bow doesn't rise or feel lighter from 5 up to 9.
You can feel the props start to free up at 5 and the RPM's and speed go up as you trim up to 8. It just seems that all I am trimming for is to free up the props.
The boat rides flat and get best speed on 1 ft chop.
The boat is at that point where just a little more is going to make a big change.
One of the last times I took it out I was low on fuel and there was a heavy chop and I was headed into the wind. The spedo was peged against the 0 stop.
At 80 MPH the stock speedo ( 75 MPH ) reads off scale at just past 6:00
I had the GPS on but the dang thing was showing metric. ( I wasn't smart enough to remember what it said to convert it later.)
I have seen 84 on GPS but never saw the speedo peged again. Only had the boat out two more times after that good run.
The boat has been sitting for almost three years.

I am trying to get it out this weekend.
I tried for HOT BOAT WEEKEND but projects at home required my time.

the reason you trim and it doesn't carry higher is because you don't have as much leverage. I' no expert but you might be as high as you want to go, maybe not.

At least if you go up too high you can run a maximus or space it back down.

Whatever you decide, best of luck! I think i'm still coughin up glass from my project! lol

You can only raise it as far as it will carry. If it wont carry try different props.

If it still wont carry higher is not the answer.

For me no carry = no fun. Speed is second to handling to me.

When I went up 2 inches the handling got a lot better. This boat is solid as a rock.
The way the boat is now I don't need more bow lift.

If u are happy the way it is ,,, leave it, that way u don't mess with the engine hight .

Try some diffrent props ,,that would be the way to go.
Just my 2 c.

Remember, 1 mile is 1.6 kilometer. ( 55 mph = 88 kmh , 80 mph = 128 kmh )

The whole reason is so that I don't have to trim so high to ventilate the props.
I felt that if I didn't have to trim so high I should get more top end.

U kind of think right,,but they have diffrent props with diameter ,pitch ,bladeshape and so on ,,also u can get the one that your best with labbed or cuped ,,,that way u don't need to ventilate too much and gain the speed / rpm u would if u trimm.
Its all about dialing in ,,not messing around / up . LOL
What Rpm are u seeing now at what speed and what prop at what trimm?????
Lets start from there, NO GUESSING,,ONLY ACC.# count.

I havn't had the boat on the water in almost three years.
Memory says 80 at 5400 RPM.
I think it was 83 or 84 at 5600 but I only saw that once the last time I took it out.
Two times before that is when I pegged the stock speedo ( needle against the 0 stop )
This boat just feels like I am at the point where just a little more HP will free it up a lot.
I had that feeling with other boats and I was correct.
I have made bigger speed increases with boat and drive/prop adjustments than by adding big doses of HP.

I think my slip # was 17%
1.5 to 1 drive ratio.
28 pitch unlabbed BRAVO prop.

I want to get my RPM up to 5700 to 5800.
With the 26 BRAVOS ( unlabbed ) I was at 6000 RPM

As far as the GPS reading metric.
The boat was just flying - it felt freed up and loose but it was stable.
I looked at the speedo and it was pegged against the back side of the 0 stop. ( all the way past 75 )
I then looked at the GPS and the thing was reading way over 100.
I have been over 100 in a boat and I actually got excited but then I saw it was in metric.
What a let down...

But the main thing I want is to get the trim angle down.
It just seems way to much.

?? Can you explain in your words what you mean when you say "ventilate the props" do you mean to break them loose getting on plane or do you mean trimming them out to the point they start to slip?

You do not like your trim angle of the drive units. Can you set the drives at this position while on the trailer. Then take a straight edge off the bottom and see what the angle relative to each actually is.

If you in deed need a lot of trim to get your optimum speed then your hull needs more bow lift. If you find it is not that severe, them possibly it is a mental thing you are chasing. One path to try is ask others what amount of positive trim do they need in order to get their boat running at its best. Sprague Mullikin has a very similar boat and he has tweaked the hell out of the boat and can give you the best comparison vis a vie so to speak.

A lot of Bravo drivers trim for speed. While it might be a mental thing it does have some merit on the non stepped hulls and can give the higher speeds people desire so some times you have to do what works best to achieve your goals. They go hand in hand.
